Hiring at speed is tough without the right tools. In this guide, we break down the best ATS platforms for fast-growing teams – from streamlining workflows to boosting candidate engagement and interview insights. We’ve tested them all and share what actually works, so you can scale your hiring without slowing down.

Best Recruiting software for different use cases

For reporting and analytics:

Ashby product logo

Ashby

Stackfix Rating:

6.1 / 10

Ashby is a strong ATS for fast-growing teams that need deep reporting and smart automation. Its custom reporting tools let you slice data by department, source, or stage—giving you the visibility to make faster, better hiring decisions. Some advanced features do require the reporting add-on, but the insights are worth it.

Ashby also speeds up applicant review, especially in high-volume roles. Its AI can scan resumes, check for role-specific criteria, and explain why a candidate does or doesn’t match—cutting screening time by up to 50%. It also filters out low-effort answers, helping teams focus only on serious applicants.

The platform does have a learning curve. The UI can feel dense, and getting the most from the system takes upfront training. But for teams that are scaling quickly and need structure, automation, and visibility across their hiring funnel, Ashby delivers serious value.

In our testing, Ashby scored 9/10 for reporting and analytics. It’s one of the best options on the market for data-driven teams who want to move fast without sacrificing quality.

For candidate sourcing and outreach:

Loxo product logo

Loxo

Stackfix Rating:

7.9 / 10

Loxo is a strong pick for fast-growing teams focused on sourcing hard-to-find, technical talent. Its unlimited, customizable outreach campaigns and one-click Chrome extension for adding candidates from LinkedIn make it quick and cost-effective to build top-of-funnel pipelines—perfect for teams scaling headcount quickly.

The platform is also easy to use, with a clean interface and minimal setup. New team members can get up to speed fast, and Loxo’s customer support is consistently excellent. In our testing, it scored 10/10 for support—something that really matters when you’re moving fast and can’t afford to get stuck.

Where Loxo shines is sourcing and outreach. You can run targeted campaigns at scale and automate follow-ups, all within the platform. That said, its candidate evaluation and scoring features aren’t as advanced as some other ATS platforms. If your hiring process relies heavily on structured scoring and assessment, Loxo may not go deep enough.

But for teams prioritising outreach, speed, and ease of use, Loxo is a strong option. It helps you fill the top of the funnel fast—without slowing the team down. A great fit for high-growth companies that need to move quickly and stay organised.

For candidate experience and employer branding:

Recruitee product logo

Recruitee

Stackfix Rating:

8.2 / 10

Recruitee strikes a smart balance between functionality and simplicity, making it a solid choice for fast-growing teams. Its careers page builder is one of the best in its class—highly customisable, easy to use, and great for showcasing your brand. That matters when you’re competing for top talent and want candidates to feel engaged from the first click.

The platform also supports workflow automation, helping teams streamline repetitive tasks and free up time for more strategic work. You can automate candidate stage transitions, email templates, and reminders, which is especially useful when managing multiple open roles. Plus, with integrations to over 2900 job boards, Recruitee helps ensure your roles get visibility.

There are some trade-offs. Pre-screening and other features designed for high-volume hiring are only available on the Grow plan, which may not fit every budget. It also lacks a few advanced tools like email nurturing and weighted scorecards.

That said, Recruitee’s clean UI, ease of use, and focus on candidate experience make it a strong option for growing teams. In our testing, its careers page builder scored 9/10—ideal for companies that want to stand out and scale their hiring without adding complexity.

For AI-powered interview insights:

Screenloop product logo

Screenloop

Stackfix Rating:

7.3 / 10

Screenloop is a strong option for fast-growing teams that want to scale hiring without losing quality. It blends solid ATS functionality with useful AI features that streamline the interview process and help teams move faster with better feedback.

Its AI tools handle note-taking, summarisation, and even pro/con analysis—saving time after interviews and making it easier for teams to share consistent, structured feedback. For busy teams juggling multiple roles, that kind of automation can make a real difference.

Screenloop also supports workflow automation for core tasks like sending emails, scheduling interviews, and managing e-sign contracts. It keeps things moving smoothly while reducing admin work for recruiters and hiring managers. In our testing, it scored 9/10 for workflow automation—one of the strongest performers in this area.

The main trade-off is that Screenloop doesn’t include native candidate assessments, which could be a downside for teams that rely on built-in testing or scoring tools. But for organisations focused on improving the quality and speed of interviews, Screenloop is a compelling choice. Its AI-driven features make it easy to scale hiring while keeping evaluation sharp and feedback consistent.

For candidate experience and employer branding:

Teamtailor product logo

Teamtailor

Stackfix Rating:

8.9 / 10

Teamtailor is a strong choice for fast-growing teams that care about candidate experience and employer branding. Its clean, intuitive interface and highly customisable careers page make it easy to build a standout candidate journey—one that reflects your culture and helps attract top talent in competitive markets.

The careers page builder is a real highlight. With drag-and-drop blocks, styling controls, and support for team stories and videos, it’s simple to create a branded experience that feels both polished and personal. In our testing, Teamtailor scored a perfect 10/10 for look and feel.

Beyond branding, it’s also a capable ATS. It includes workflow automation, candidate nurturing tools, and solid integrations—giving you what you need to scale your hiring without slowing down. Whether you’re a startup or scaling into new markets, it’s built to grow with you.

There are some trade-offs. Teamtailor requires an annual contract, which may not suit all teams, and its sourcing capabilities aren’t as advanced as some other platforms. But for companies focused on experience, design, and brand, it’s one of the best options out there—especially if you’re hiring at pace and want to stand out while doing it.

Functionality
8

Functionality

8/10

<p>Ashby offers most functionality that most SMBs will need for hiring. In addition to core ATS features (track applicants over a pipeline, create job ad, Ashby allows you to easily add candidates from LinkedIn in-one-click, nurture candidates by sending them email sequences, create interview kits and scorecards etc.</p><p>However, it lacks some advanced features like side-by-side candidate comparison and weighted scorecards.&nbsp;</p>
7

Functionality

7/10

<p>Loxo offers nearly all functionality that an SMB will need: email automation, a career site builder, CV parser, interview scorecards etc.) The most notable functions which is missing is candidate assessments which can incur the user extra costs should they wish to conduct such assessments.</p><p>AI sourcing features are particularly strong. New features now allow you to see why the AI has chosen to source a particular candidate.</p>
8

Functionality

8/10

<p>Besides essential ATS features like job posting, interview scheduling, and candidate tracking, Recruitee also allows you to create fully automated workflows, build customisable career pages, interview kits and scorecards, enable self-scheduling for candidates and more.</p><p>However, it lacks advanced features like email nurturing and weighted scorecards.</p>
9

Functionality

9/10

<p>Screenloop combines solid, easy-to-use functionality with standout AI features. Its automation, analytics, career site builder, and interview scorecards are all strong — intuitive to use and built with modern hiring teams in mind.</p><p>What really sets Screenloop apart, though, is the AI. The note-taking, pros and cons, and summary tools make interviews faster, more structured, and far less manual. Many users highlight how these features save hours and cut out the usual back-and-forth chasing feedback after interviews.</p>
9

Functionality

9/10

<p>Teamtailor offers all the functionality that most SMBs will need for hiring. In addition to core ATS features (track applicants over a pipeline, create job ad), Teamtailor allows you to compare candidates side-by-side, create highly customisable career pages with a no-code wbe builder, nurture candidates by sending them email sequences and more.</p>
Ease of Use
4

Ease of Use

4/10

<p>We find Ashby less intuitive than many other ATS platforms. Its overwhelming level of customizability creates a steep learning curve, so don’t be surprised if you’re constantly referring to Help Centre articles just to manage basic settings and workflows. For example, under “Interview and Scheduling,” there are 7 separate settings tabs, which is a lot to navigate and familiarise yourself with.</p><p>Key workflows, like setting up a job opening or moving candidates through stages, also feel unnecessarily complicated, requiring more clicks than you’d expect. For instance, you can’t add a feedback form until you’ve marked an interview as complete. While larger teams might appreciate these rigid processes, smaller teams will likely find them more frustrating than helpful.</p>
8

Ease of Use

8/10

<p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Loxo has a simple and easy-to-use interface. We estimate an average start-up employee would require around 2 hours minimal guidance to master all the key functionalities of the product.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Most functions and processes are easy to find and intuitive. Some more complex workflows can feel unnecessarily long-winded. For example, when adding custom questions to an application form, first a form must be created with all custom questions you wish to add and then this form can be added to your original application form. However, there are very few features like this.</span></p>
9

Ease of Use

9/10

<p><span style="color: rgb(9, 9, 11);">Despite its rich functionality, Recruitee has a simple, uncluttered UI that is very easy to use. Key workflows such as creating a job opening, customizing an interview pipeline and setting up automations are all very straightforward and intuitive. An average startup employee should require around an hour and minimum guidance to use the product proficiently.</span></p>
7

Ease of Use

7/10

<p>Given how much functionality and customisation Screenloop offers, it’s surprisingly easy to use. Key information is easy to find, and most workflows feel intuitive. That said, a few of the more advanced features can take a bit more time to get to grips with.</p><p>For most startup teams, a half-day and a bit of guidance is enough to get comfortable with the core features.</p>
9

Ease of Use

9/10

<p><span style="color: rgb(9, 9, 11);">Despite its very rich functionality, Teamtailor is very user-friendly. Key workflows such as creating a job opening, customizing an interview pipeline and setting up automations are all very straightforward and intuitive. </span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(9, 9, 11);">An average SMB employee should require around an hour and minimum guidance to use the product proficiently.</span></p>
Look and feel
5

Look and feel

5/10

<p>Ashby’s interface is passable but far from impressive. Some pages feel cluttered, making it harder to navigate. Page load times are fast, taking around 1-2 seconds per page.</p>
8

Look and feel

8/10

<p>Loxo is not stunning but it is, visually, more than acceptable.&nbsp;</p><p>The loading times between pages are also fast (~1 second) creating a frictionless UX.</p>
7

Look and feel

7/10

<p>Recruitee has a simple, uncluttered and visually appealing interface - though we find it to be a bit on the plainer side. It also has fast page load times.</p>
8

Look and feel

8/10

<p>Screenloop has a clean, modern UI that’s a pleasure to use. Pages load in under a second, and all the drag-and-drop features feel smooth and reliable.</p>
10

Look and feel

10/10

<p>Teamtailor <span style="color: rgb(9, 9, 11);">has a vibrant, modern design and instant load times that will be an absolute joy to use, for both your hiring team and candidates. </span></p>
Customisability
8

Customisability

8/10

<p>Ashby has one of the most customisable analytics and interview scheduling features we've come across. Besides these, Ashby offers a standard level of customisability for creating careers page, job adds and interview kits. Just note that with the interview pipeline, you seem to be "stuck" with some stages e.g. "application reviewed" and "new leads".</p>
7

Customisability

7/10

<p>Loxo offers most of the customisations than any SMB will need. These include: customisable scorecards, interview pipelines, application forms (with plenty of question types), custom reporting functions and customisable outreach campaigns. However, some of these customisations are particularly extensive. For example, there is not option to an overall score to a candidate via the scorecard functionality and the careers page only offers basic customisations.</p>
8

Customisability

8/10

<p>You can customise most things on Recruitee, from data fields, interview stages, job application forms, and more. It provides an excellent drag-and-drop careers site builder with highly customizable features.</p><p>However, it lacks the ability to customize individual interview stages with reusable templates or the layout of the platform.&nbsp;</p>
7

Customisability

7/10

<p>Screenloop covers all the basics when it comes to customisation — interview pipelines, application form questions, and light tweaks to your career page. But some advanced options are missing. There’s no support for custom CSS, custom analytics, or control over the platform’s layout.</p>
8

Customisability

8/10

<p>You can customise most things with Teamtailor, from interview stages, job application forms, reports to widgets on the homepage. It also offers best-in-class customisability for careers pages.</p><p>The only things missing are more advanced customisability with reports and interview scheduling.</p>
Ease of Setup
5

Ease of Setup

5/10

<p>Ashby doesn't offer a free trial and requires talking to sales before purchasing. It takes &lt;30mins to complete basic setup (posting first job opening, adding hiring team members, configuring basic hiring stages). Fully customizing key features takes &lt;1 week.</p>
9

Ease of Setup

9/10

<p>Loxo offers a free plan and purchasing doesn't require you to speak to sales. Completing basic setup takes &lt;30mins and fully customizing key features takes approximately 1 business day.</p>
9

Ease of Setup

9/10

<p>Recruitee offers a free trial and purchasing doesn't require you to speak to sales. The platform has a simple UI that makes completing basic setup easy; &lt;30mins. Fully customizing key features takes approximately 1 business day.</p>
5

Ease of Setup

5/10

<p>Screenloop doesn’t offer a free trial and requires a sales conversation to get started, as pricing is custom.</p><p>Once you've got access, the initial setup is quick - posting your first job, adding your hiring team, and setting up basic stages takes less than 30 minutes.</p><p>If you want to fully customise key features, you’ll need a bit more time. With guidance from their team, you can get everything tailored in under a week.</p>
8

Ease of Setup

8/10

<p>Teamtailor offers a free trial without needing to speak to sales. However, to make a purchase, you have to speak to sales due to the custom pricing. It takes &lt;30mins to complete basic setup (posting first job opening, add hiring team members, configure basic hiring stages). Fully customize key features (creating custom workflows, configuring integrations, branding the platform) takes &lt;1week.</p>
Customer Support
7

Customer Support

7/10

<p>Ashby provides email-only support, but responses are clear, comprehensive, and typically received within one business day. They also offer high-quality self-serve materials.&nbsp;</p>
10

Customer Support

10/10

<p>Customer service as Loxo is exceptional. E<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">mail, phone and video support is all offered, as well as, dedicated onboarding and setup consultations. A personalised Q&amp;A is available via in-app, live chat with friendly, human agents who offer helpful response within minutes during business hours. </span></p><p><br></p><p>The self-service materials also have great depth and quality. Loxo's knowledge base and training centre a offers videos and articles with step-by-step instructions about how to use specific functions, as well as, tips about best practices to maximise Loxo's capabilities.</p>
7

Customer Support

7/10

<p>Recruitee provides in-app live chat with friendly live human agents. However, our testers found they had to answer quite a few questions with an AI chatbot to be routed to a human, and response times are a bit slow (2 - 4 hours). On the positive side, they offer a high-quality help centre.&nbsp;</p>
8

Customer Support

8/10

<p>Personalised support is only available via email and live chat — and only after you’ve signed up. That said, response times are fast (usually under an hour), and the support team is genuinely helpful. We've heard many glowing reviews from users that corroborate this. </p><p>One flaw here is that Screenloop’s self-serve resources are limited. There’s a solid introductory video to get you started, but detailed docs on specific features are lacking. </p>
10

Customer Support

10/10

<p>Teamtailor provides excellent in-app customer support during UK and US hours. Our testers found it super easy to connect with human agents, who are always friendly, helpful and willing to go above and beyond.</p>
Integratability
8

Integratability

8/10

<p>Ashby integrates with most relevant third party tools, including candidate sourcing, assessment tools, job boards and HR platforms. However, it seems to lack integrations with some popular tools like TestGorilla.&nbsp; It also offers an API for custom integrations.</p>
6

Integratability

6/10

<p>Loxo offers API that allows users to build desired integrations where necessary. However, they do not integrate with many third party hiring products. For example, they lack assessment software, background checks and HRIS integrations.&nbsp;Furthermore, some integrations are limited. For example, the integration with Zoom only allows you to click a 'join meeting' button. You cannot create or attend meetings through the Loxo UI.</p>
9

Integratability

9/10

<p>Recruitee offers 120+ integrations covering a wide range of tools including HRIS, assessments, background checks, e-sign tools, and video interviews. It also connects to 2900 job boards (21 are free). It also has an API for custom integrations.</p>
6

Integratability

6/10

<p>Screenloop’s integrations are strong across the board — HRIS, e-signatures, email, calendars, and background checks are all easy to use and well embedded in the UI. The one gap is candidate assessments. There’s no native feature or third-party integration, which could be a dealbreaker if assessments are a key part of your hiring process.</p>
9

Integratability

9/10

<p>Teamtailor offers 350+ pre-built integrations covering key areas like HRIS, assessments, background checks, e-sign tools, and video interviews. It also connects to 32 free job boards and 100+ premium ones. It also offers an API for custom integrations.</p>
Ease of Migration
8

Ease of Migration

8/10

<p>Exports of key data (candidate, job, employee data) are available via self-serve download to CSV. Most other data are available via API are on request.&nbsp;</p>
8

Ease of Migration

8/10

<p>Key data is available self-serve via the analytics dashboard. Custom metrics can be created and viewed on the same dashboard. This data can be exported to a CSV file self-serve.</p>

8/10

<p>Exports of key data (candidate, job, employee data) are available via self-serve download to CSV. Most other data are available via API are on request.&nbsp;</p>
6

Ease of Migration

6/10

<p>Screenloop’s analytics are fully self-serve and cover all the key hiring metrics — from stage-by-stage volume to offer acceptance rates. It also goes a step further with more advanced insights, like their “quality of hire” metric, which tracks how well new hires perform in their first 180 days. You can break this down by team or hiring manager, making it a powerful tool for spotting patterns and improving your process.</p>

How we test products

With so many Recruiting software options available, we focus on identifying the best solutions for small and midsize businesses. Our evaluation process reflects real-world usage, prioritizing functionality, ease of use, and overall value. Here’s how we do it:

Functionality

Recruiting software should streamline hiring workflows, improve candidate sourcing, and enhance the overall hiring process. We start by identifying key use cases—job posting, applicant tracking, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and analytics—then test how well each platform supports these needs. Tools that offer essential features without unnecessary complexity score highest.

User Experience & Onboarding

A great Recruiting tool should be intuitive for hiring managers and recruiters. We test each platform’s interface by navigating core features without prior training and track onboarding time—from account setup to managing the first job listing. Platforms that require complex setup or manual adjustments lose points.

Automation & AI Capabilities

Hiring teams need automation to manage high applicant volumes efficiently. We evaluate each platform’s automation features, such as resume screening, interview scheduling, and AI-driven candidate matching. Tools that enhance efficiency without adding unnecessary complexity score highest.

Integrations & Compatibility

Recruiting software must integrate smoothly with HR platforms, job boards, and communication tools. We test how well each product connects with essential business systems and assess whether native integrations or third-party connectors are required.

Pricing & Value

We compare pricing across competitors, analyzing what each plan includes and whether critical features are locked behind paywalls. Hidden costs—such as per-job posting fees, add-ons for AI-powered features, or required enterprise plans—are factored into our assessment. Platforms that offer strong core functionality at a fair price score highest.

Stackfix’s Fit Score

All of these factors contribute to Stackfix’s Fit Score, a proprietary ranking system that measures how well each Recruiting tool aligns with a buyer’s needs. It combines two key elements:

  • Requirements Met – How many buyer requirements the software fulfills

FAQs

What is Recruiting software?

Put simply, Recruiting software (also known as an Applicant Tracking System, or ATS) is a platform that helps businesses manage, track, and streamline the hiring process efficiently. It acts as a central hub for all recruiting activities, allowing teams to post jobs, source candidates, manage interviews, and track hiring progress—ensuring a seamless and organized hiring experience. The key features of recruiting software usually include:

  • Job Posting & Distribution: Tools to create job listings and automatically distribute them to multiple job boards and career pages.
  • Candidate Management: A structured system to track applicants throughout the hiring process, from initial application to final offer.
  • Resume Parsing & Screening: AI-powered tools that scan and categorize resumes to help recruiters quickly identify top candidates.
  • Interview Scheduling & Collaboration: Automated interview scheduling, integrated calendars, and shared feedback tools to keep hiring teams aligned.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Insights into hiring speed, candidate quality, and source effectiveness to optimize recruitment efforts.

What should I consider when buying Recruiting software?

Choosing the right recruiting software can make or break your hiring process—so it’s essential to find one that fits your hiring needs, integrates with your existing tools, and aligns with your budget. Here are the key factors to consider before making your decision.

  1. Your Hiring Needs. Start by assessing your current and future hiring requirements. Do you need simple recruiting software for occasional hires, or are you scaling rapidly and require automation, multi-channel sourcing, and advanced analytics? Identifying your priorities will help you choose the right tool.
  2. Ease of Use. Recruiting software should make recruiting faster and more efficient—not more complicated. Look for an intuitive interface that recruiters and hiring managers can use with minimal training. Overly complex platforms can slow down hiring and frustrate your team. 3. Integration with Your Tech Stack. Your recruiting software needs to work seamlessly with your HR software, email, video conferencing tools, and calendar apps. If you use Slack, Zoom, or an HRIS for onboarding, check if the ATS offers native integrations or requires third-party connectors.
  4. Scalability & Flexibility. As your business grows, your hiring needs will evolve. Ensure that the recruiting software can scale with your team, supporting multiple recruiters, departments, and hiring workflows. Look for features like customizable hiring pipelines, automation for repetitive tasks, and integrations with external recruiting agencies.
  5. Pricing & Hidden Costs. Recruiting software pricing varies widely, often based on per-user fees, job postings, or advanced automation add-ons. What seems affordable now could become expensive as your hiring volume increases. Check for extra costs related to resume parsing, advanced reporting, and integrations with premium job boards.
  6. Customer Support from the Vendor. Hiring is time-sensitive, so reliable customer support is essential. If something breaks or you need help setting up workflows, will the vendor be there? Look at response times, support availability (24/7 or business hours?), and self-service resources like help centers or community forums. What are the common mistakes to avoid when buying Recruiting software?

Avoiding common pitfalls when choosing Recruiting software can save you time, money, and hiring headaches down the line. Here are some of the biggest mistakes startups make—and how to avoid them.

  1. Choosing based on features, not usability. Some recruiting platforms have powerful features but a steep learning curve. Make sure you’re picking a tool that fits your team’s workflow, not just one with a long feature list.
  2. Ignoring automation. Many startups still manage recruitment manually when automation could significantly reduce workload. Look for tools that automate job postings, candidate communications, and interview scheduling.
  3. Overlooking collaboration features. Hiring is a team effort, and a lack of collaborative tools (like shared candidate feedback, scorecards, or hiring pipelines) can slow down decision-making.
  4. Not planning for scaling. Startups often pick recruiting software based on current needs, without considering future growth. Will the platform support multiple job openings, hiring managers, and applicant sources as you scale?
  5. Underestimating integration depth. A platform might claim to integrate with your HR software or email system, but does it sync real-time data properly? Always test integrations before committing to a tool.
