PS

ActiveCampaign and Outreach serve distinctly different market segments within the sales engagement space. ActiveCampaign is better suited for small to medium-sized businesses seeking an intuitive, easy-to-implement solution with strong email capabilities and excellent customer support. Its quick setup time and user-friendly interface make it ideal for teams that need to get started quickly without extensive training.

Conversely, Outreach is better positioned for enterprise businesses requiring sophisticated analytics, multi-channel engagement capabilities, and advanced features like AI conversation analysis and sales forecasting. While both products lack native prospecting databases, Outreach offers more comprehensive integration options and advanced features, albeit with a steeper learning curve and more complex setup process.

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
6

Functionality

6/10

ActiveCampaign is a fairly basic email outbound tool that also packages a decently strong native CRM. As such if these are the areas you're focused on, then the tool covers the basics well. However, it lacks any kind of native prospecting database and offers no support for core channels such as phone outbound - so if you need these, you're better off looking elsewhere.

7

Functionality

7/10

In terms of outbound channels, you'll find the core ones covered (email, LinkedIn & phone). However, there are some major feature omissions such as the lack of any kind of prospecting database (something you'll find in many simpler, all-in-one products). That being said, it compensates with strong analytics, coaching and forecasting features.

Ease of Use
7

Ease of Use

7/10

It would take an average small business employee less than an hour to properly figure out the functionalities of this software - a great learning curve if you ask us. The layout is also extremely intuitive, making this a beginner-friendly piece of software.

5

Ease of Use

5/10

Outreach's core interfaces are familiar and relatively straight forward to use. However, given the sheer breadth of functionality some screens (especially those related to the newer AI features) can feel a little confusing on first look. It would take the average SMB employee a few hours to master its use.

Look and feel

Look and feel

4/10

We found ActiveCampaign's interface to generally be intuitive, especially with regards to sequencing and email drafting. However, the frustratingly slow loading times (more than 4 seconds in many cases) can be a real deal-breaker.

7

Look and feel

7/10

Outreach's interfaces are well designed and modern. It's pages were also relatively snappy and quick to load. Overall, the product experience is smooth.

Customisability
5

Customisability

5/10

ActiveCampaign offers the usual channels around customization including things like setting up custom workflows, using their AI to draft sequences etc. However, we would like to see more granularity when it comes to making custom reports and dashboards from an analytics perspective.

7

Customisability

7/10

Outreach offers a fairly standard set of customization routes. For example, you can provide their AI with context about your business and targets which will then be used across a range of AI features in the product. Outreach's analytics dashboards are also very customizable.

Ease of Setup
6

Ease of Setup

6/10

ActiveCampaign offers a self-serve trial – it takes around 10-20 minutes to finish basic setup, and fully customising workflows takes 1-2 days at most. We especially appreciated how easy it was to use AI to draft sequences and emails despite the lack of proper templates.

3

Ease of Setup

3/10

Outreach does not offer a self-serve product or a free trial. This means you'll have to jump through a number of sales hoops before you're able to get started and use the product. Once you do have access, there's also a fair amount of groundwork that needs to be configured such as setting up sequences, customizing dashboards etc.

Customer Support
8

Customer Support

8/10

The primary channel for support is live chat. When tested, we found response times to be swift (when in working hours which are 3am-11pm CT) and helpful. Additionally, ActiveCampaign also provide a decent support centre too.

6

Customer Support

6/10

Outreach primarily offers support through live chat (although they do also allow you to create traditional support tickets). They also offer a help centre, however, we found this to be slightly overwhelming and poorly laid out.

Integratability
7

Integratability

7/10

ActiveCampaign offers a fairly large array of integrations which covers most of the tooling you'd expect (HubSpot is notably absent). That being said, we would like to have seen native integrations with more prospecting databases such as Apollo (though this can be configured through an automation platform like Zapier).

8

Integratability

8/10

Outreach is one of the best integrated tools in the market. It offers integrations with the core CRM players, meeting scheduling apps, automation apps, email providers and more.

Ease of Migration
6

Ease of Migration

6/10

ActiveCampaign offers self serve export functionality directly within its web app. Additionally, it offers an API through which you can interact with data on the platform programatically too.

Outreach offers self serve export functionality for contacts and analytics via its web app. It also offers an API through which you can interact with data in the platform programatically.
