Personio and Applied serve distinctly different recruiting needs. Personio is better suited for European companies requiring multilingual support and basic ATS functionality integrated with HRIS, offering strong candidate sourcing and offer management features.

Applied, however, excels for companies prioritizing unbiased hiring and structured evaluation processes, with superior automation, interview management, and candidate assessment tools. While both platforms handle core ATS functions, their strengths make them ideal for different use cases - Personio for multilingual European businesses seeking HRIS integration, and Applied for companies focusing on objective, bias-free hiring processes.

Applied offers superior workflow automation
Applied provides comprehensive automation capabilities including interview scheduling, candidate feedback, and customizable email templates with auto-fill features. Personio's automation is limited to basic email notifications for rejections and stage advancement.
Applied excels at creating job advertisements
Applied offers sophisticated job posting features including gender-specific language flagging, reading burden analysis, and 'sift' questions to identify the best candidates regardless of experience. Personio only offers basic job posting functionality without pre-screening questions.
Applied provides superior candidate evaluation tools
Applied's evaluation system includes comprehensive mark schemes for each question, bias reduction features, and automatic candidate ranking. While Personio offers basic evaluation forms, it lacks the sophisticated bias-reduction and standardization features of Applied.

Advantages of Personio

Personio is significantly more multilingual
Personio supports multiple languages, including German, English, Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian, Swedish, and Finnish, for both internal teams and career sites, making it well-suited for companies operating across multiple European markets.
Personio provides better offer management
Personio includes offer letter creation and e-signature capabilities, while Applied lacks these features entirely. This streamlines the final hiring stages for HR teams who need to manage multiple offers efficiently.
Personio offers superior candidate sourcing capabilities
Unlike Applied, Personio provides a Chrome extension for importing candidates directly from LinkedIn, and supports CSV imports of candidate profiles. This makes it significantly more efficient for companies doing high-volume recruiting compared to Applied's manual candidate entry process.

<p>Applied offers most of the functionality most companies will need. In addition to core ATS functionality (e.g. posting your job ad to external job boards, scheduling interviews, tracking candidates over a pipeline)</p><p>Applied also have plenty of anti-bias functionality. For example, a mark scheme attached to each interview or pre-screening questions to standardize marking and the ability to anonymise screening.</p><p><br></p><p>However, a few advanced features are missing. Most notably, a CV-parser, candidate nurturing campaigns and a chrome-extension to add candidates from linkedin with one click.</p>

<p>While Personio has a clean and simple interface that is visually acceptable, it suffers from slow loading times (3-4 seconds per page).</p>
Customisability

6/10

<p>Most of the Applied product can be customised. For example, interview kits can include custom questions and custom mark schemes for each questions.</p><p>However, more sophisticated customisability like CSS or the ability to move candidates to different stages of the pipeline depending on their responses to pre-screen questions are not available.</p>
