Its extensive integration ecosystem and superior data handling capabilities make it ideal for companies using multiple HR tools.

KiwiHR, conversely, is better positioned for small businesses, particularly European companies, seeking a straightforward, user-friendly HRIS with strong core features like time-off management and workflow customization. While KiwiHR offers a more modern interface and flexible workflow options, it lacks the depth of functionality and integration capabilities that BambooHR provides.

Advantages of BambooHR

BambooHR offers better customer support

With an average response time of just 35 seconds and resolution within 3-4 minutes, BambooHR's customer support is quick and helpful. While only available during US business hours, BambooHR's support is more responsive and effective than KiwiHR's primarily AI-chat based system.

BambooHR has significantly better integration capabilities
With around 130 pre-built integrations across various categories including ATS, payroll, and accounting, BambooHR offers far more connectivity than KiwiHR's single Slack integration. While KiwiHR does offer API access, BambooHR's extensive integration ecosystem makes it much more versatile for companies using multiple HR tools.

We found KiwiHR's interface to be more intuitive and modern compared to BambooHR's dated look. The platform's clear layout and effective navigation make it easy for users to find and use features, requiring only half a day for an average SMB employee to become proficient, which is particularly valuable for companies with less tech-savvy employees.
KiwiHR offers superior workflow management
KiwiHR's Journey feature provides highly customizable on/off-boarding processes with sophisticated task scheduling and dependencies, while BambooHR's workflow capabilities are limited to basic approval processes. This makes KiwiHR better suited for organizations needing detailed process management.

<p>Bamboo offers most functionality that most SMBs will need. Besides core HR features (store employee info, manage time-of), Bamboo also allows you to run performance reviews, manage benefits and payroll for US employees, recruit employee via a native applicant tracking system and more.</p><p>Only features missing are more advanced workflow automation and reporting the likes of Rippling/ Deel, and the ability to manage employee's software access and hardware devices.</p>

<p>KiwiHR offers some of the basic functionality that most companies will need (such as storing employee information and documentation, and managing time-off), but lacks some other functionality that we see from competitors (e.g., performance management, surveys). When it comes to the functionality that KiwiHR does offer, we found that most of the time, these functions were largely basic offerings, lacking advanced features.</p>

<p>Despite its rich functionality, we find that Bamboo is generally user-friendly and intuitive to navigate. There are a few UX imperfections such as having to add non-US public holiday calendars manually but these can be overlooked.</p><p>On top of its ease of use, their implementation and support teams offer useful support and can extend functionality on the platform whenever needed. It should only take an average SMB employee 1-2 hours to be familiar with the key functionalities of the platform.</p>

<p>Through our testing, we believe that an average SMB employee would require around half a day to become proficient at using KiwiHR. Most tasks and features are located in an intuitive location, and the clear and effective layout helps users to navigate between these sections.</p>

<p>We find that Bamboo lacks some common customisability options offered out-the-box by most HRIS's. For example, the inability to customise their hardcoded tables and lack of flexibility in their standard coded pages may frustrate usage for users that require more flexibility with their data fields.</p><p>Our testing also found limited editability in with what questions one can ask in employee surveys, only one feedback template available for performance reviews, and inability to customise one's interview pipeline across job opening for Bamboo's ATS.&nbsp;</p><p>However, BambooHR also accommodates for integration of unique features to each account, available upon request with their implementation team.</p>

<p>KiwiHR offers basic customization options throughout the product. Users can add custom fields to employee profiles and set up sophisticated workflows for processes like onboarding/offboarding.</p><p>However, the software lacks the flexibility to customize workflows beyond preset parameters. Even when creating a report from scratch, users are restricted to working within predefined categories of data, limiting the platform's adaptability for more complex or unique business needs.</p>

<p>Bamboo offers support via in-app live chat. <span style="color: rgb(9, 9, 11);">Its average hold time on a Customer Support call is 35 seconds, and their average resolution time is 3-4 minutes - which would make it a 10. But we've deducted a point because it's only available within US business hours. </span></p><p>Their customer support is also great with implementing custom solutions for fields that may not be captured out the box.</p>

<p>We found KiwiHR's self-serve support website to be fairly barebones, but we did like the in-app AI chat. We found that it was able to answer all of our questions, but also provided recommendations of workarounds where a particular function was not possible (such as setting company-wide holidays). Failing this, however, the live customer support we found to be weak, with a response SLA of up to 2 days.</p>

However, it is yet to add integrations with newer leading providers, such as Ashby for ATS, and Xero and Sage for payroll. It does offer an API for custom integrations.</p>

<p>While KiwiHR offers an open API for building custom integrations, its selection of pre-built integrations is incredibly limited. It doesn't integrate with many popular HR tools like QuickBooks (Accounting), Lattice (Performance Management), and Workable (ATS). Even connecting with Google/ Outlook Calendar requires you to enter a URL link. KiwiHR really only works for teams planning to use Tellent for all their HR needs i.e. Javelo for performance management, and Recruitee for recruiting.</p>
