PS

Pipedrive and Bigin serve distinctly different segments of the CRM market. Pipedrive is a more comprehensive sales and marketing platform for growing teams, offering superior lead management, marketing capabilities, and customer support. Its intuitive interface and robust feature set make it ideal for scaling sales teams who need advanced functionality and are willing to pay for add-ons.

Bigin, conversely, is a more affordable, customizable solution for small teams transitioning from spreadsheets, offering better built-in phone capabilities and value for basic CRM needs at a fraction of the cost.

Advantages of Bigin

Bigin is significantly more customizable for multi-team use
We found Bigin's customization capabilities to be notably superior to Pipedrive. The standout feature is Bigin's flexible pipeline templates that can be adapted for various use cases like website launches, issue tracking, and employee onboarding. This versatility is particularly valuable for organizations needing to track different workflows across multiple teams, unlike Pipedrive's more sales-focused approach.
Bigin offers superior built-in phone capabilities
We prefer Bigin for its robust built-in phone functionality, which allows for making and tracking calls directly from the browser. This includes features like call routing automation and browser-based calling, making it more suitable for teams requiring integrated phone capabilities without additional integrations.
Bigin provides better value for basic CRM needs
At just $7 per month, Bigin includes essential features like built-in phone and email sequencing in its base package, while Pipedrive requires additional add-ons for similar functionality. This makes Bigin particularly cost-effective for small teams needing core CRM features without the expense of add-ons.

Advantages of Pipedrive

Pipedrive is significantly better at customer support
We found Pipedrive's 24/7 in-app chat support with live human agents to be consistently friendly, quick to respond, and very helpful. This is in stark contrast to Bigin's limited support options, where we found their chat function non-functional and online resources inadequate.
Pipedrive has superior email sequence capabilities
While both platforms offer email sequencing, Pipedrive's implementation is significantly more sophisticated, allowing for better tracking of sequence performance and easier enrollment of contacts. Bigin's approach requires complex workarounds and lacks performance tracking.
Pipedrive has much better lead management
Pipedrive's dedicated Leads Inbox and AI-powered lead scoring system (Pulse) make it significantly easier to prioritize and qualify leads compared to Bigin's basic tagging system. This is particularly valuable for sales teams handling high volumes of leads.
Pipedrive offers superior marketing capabilities

Pipedrive provides a robust set of marketing add-ons that integrate seamlessly with sales workflows, including website visitor tracking, chatbot functionality, and a drag-and-drop email builder. Bigin lacks these marketing capabilities, making Pipedrive a better choice for teams needing combined sales and marketing functionality.

Bigin is best for

 • Businesses with a very low volume of customer interactions (<10 messages/calls per day)
 • Who need an easy transition from spreadsheets and want flexible pipeline management

Pipedrive is best for

 • Businesses with a low volume of customer interactions (10-50 messages/calls per day)
 • Who need an intuitive sales pipeline management tool and powerful lead routing capabilities
 • Or who want basic marketing capabilities integrated into their sales workflow

Bigin is less good for

 • Businesses with a moderate to high volume of customer interactions (>50 messages/calls per day)
 • Who need advanced marketing automation features like lead scoring, email design tools, and website tracking
 • Or who require custom objects or advanced workflow automation with third-party integrations

Pipedrive is less good for

 • Businesses with high volume of customer interactions (>100 messages/calls per day) requiring complex workflow automation
 • Who heavily rely on cold calling and email sequences for lead generation

Functionality
6

Functionality

6/10

Bigin offers essential features for small teams, like flexible contact and pipeline management, built-in phone, email sequencing, workflow automation, and analytics—all at an affordable price. However, advanced features like email marketing campaigns and data enrichment require add-ons or integrations.

8

Functionality

8/10

Pipedrive offers most of the functionality that SMBs will need. Besides allowing you to manage contacts, leads and your sales pipeline, Pipedrive also allows you to send email sequences, automate workflows, and layer on marketing functionality via add-ons (e.g. create marketing emails, chat bots, web forms, track website visitors).

However, it lacks some advanced features such as a dialer that allows you to make calls from your browser, adding contacts from LinkedIn and data enrichment. These will require 3rd party integrations.

Ease of Use
7

Ease of Use

7/10

Navigating Bigin is straightforward and intuitive, and should take about an hour for most SMB users to get comfortable. Its "spreadsheet views" for contacts and pipelines are especially great for teams transitioning from spreadsheets. However, be aware of confusing terms like "touched records," and note that setting up email sequences can be cumbersome.

8

Ease of Use

8/10

Pipedrive is built for sales team - we found it very easy to locate key information, and most sales workflows such as prioritising and routing leads were also highly intuitive. An average SMB employee should only require 1-2 hours to master key functionalities of the product.

Look and feel
5

Look and feel

5/10

Bigin loads quickly, but its interface feels plain and uninspiring.

7

Look and feel

7/10

We find Pipedrive's interface clean and modern, and acceptable to load (~2 seconds per page).

Customisability
7

Customisability

7/10

You can customize Bigin by setting up pipelines, adding custom fields, and saving filters. Its standout multi-team, flexible pipelines help track deals, projects, and support tickets. However, it lacks custom objects and advanced automation workflows.

5

Customisability

5/10

Built for sales teams, this also makes Pipedrive less customisable compared to competitors. Although you can customizable most fields and pipeline stages, most of its modules and terminology are rather sales-oriented e.g. you must have a "leads inbox", pipeline cards must be "deals".

It also lacks the ability to add custom objects, which allows you to track items besides people and companies e.g. subscription types or vendors and track custom web events e.g. add to cart.

Ease of Setup
8

Ease of Setup

8/10

Bigin offers offers a simple, self-serve free trial for their platform. When tested, we found the initial setup to be straightforward (taking ~10 mins). Fully customising the platform can take 1-2 days given Bigin's breadth of features and integrations e.g. setting up call functionality, payment links, advanced automations.

6

Ease of Setup

6/10

Pipedrive offers a free trial without need to speak to sales. Completing basic setup is simple, taking about 10 minutes to import your contacts and set up pipelines. That said, getting the platform fully up and running, and getting your team up to speed, can take up to a week. This is especially true if you’re exploring Pipedrive’s add-ons for marketing, prospecting, and project management.

Customer Support
3

Customer Support

3/10

Support is available via phone and email. Although there's a "Chat with Us" button, it was non-functional during testing. Online resources are limited and not very helpful.

9

Customer Support

9/10

Pipedrive offers 24/7, in-app chat with live human agents. Our team has always found the Pipedrive support team to be friendly, quick to respond, and very helpful.

Integratability
6

Integratability

6/10

Bigin integrates with key third party tools like Google and Outlook Calendar, Mailchimp, Shopify, and over 100 telephony vendors. It has a marketplace for third-party plugins like Slack, Twilio, and Eventbrite. While it integrates well with Zoho products, it lacks key integrations with major customer support vendors like Zendesk and Freshdesk. An API is available for custom integrations.

8

Integratability

8/10

Pipedrive has pre-built integrations with most relevant 3rd party products and an API that allows buyer to build own integrations where necessary.

Ease of Migration
9

Ease of Migration

9/10

You can easily export key information such as contacts, deals, and reports from dashboards. All data can also be exported via API.

8
