Loops and Campaign Monitor serve distinctly different segments of the email marketing market. Loops excels as a streamlined, modern email automation tool perfect for startups and technical teams who value simplicity and direct support. Its clean interface and focused feature set make it ideal for companies prioritizing quick implementation and essential email marketing functions.

Campaign Monitor, conversely, is better suited for established businesses needing comprehensive marketing automation capabilities, offering superior design tools, extensive integrations, and broader functionality including SMS campaigns and advanced analytics. While both platforms have strong email automation capabilities, they differ significantly in their approach and target user base.

Advantages of Campaign Monitor

Campaign Monitor is significantly more feature-rich than Loops
We found Campaign Monitor offers a comprehensive suite of marketing automation features that Loops lacks, including SMS campaigns, AI-assisted drafting, and A/B testing. This makes it particularly valuable for marketing teams needing to execute sophisticated, multi-channel campaigns.
Campaign Monitor has superior email design capabilities
While Loops offers a basic Notion-like editor, Campaign Monitor provides a robust drag-and-drop builder with rich templates and advanced customization options. This difference is crucial for marketing teams who need to create visually compelling emails without technical expertise.
Campaign Monitor has superior integration capabilities
We find that Campaign Monitor connects with significantly more platforms than Loops, including crucial e-commerce platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce. This makes it more suitable for businesses needing to connect their marketing with their broader tech stack.
Campaign Monitor offers more comprehensive analytics
Unlike Loops' basic tracking, Campaign Monitor provides detailed visual dashboards covering metrics like campaign performance, audience health, and deliverability trends. This is essential for teams that need deep insights into their marketing performance.

Advantages of Loops

Loops is significantly more intuitive for email automation
We found Loops' email automation interface exceptionally clean and straightforward, with a focus on essential features that make it easy to create email sequences. While Campaign Monitor offers more features, Loops' streamlined approach makes it particularly effective for startups needing quick implementation of email campaigns without complexity.
Loops provides superior customer support with direct founder access
Unlike Campaign Monitor's standard support system, Loops offers direct access to founders through 20-minute calls and developer team chat during US business hours. This level of high-touch support is particularly valuable for startups needing strategic guidance.
Loops has a notably cleaner, more modern interface
We find Loops' interface to be exceptionally clean and modern, making it faster and more enjoyable to use than Campaign Monitor's more traditional design. This matters particularly for teams who value efficiency and modern design aesthetics.

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
8

Functionality

8/10

<p>Campaign Monitor offers almost all functionality most companies will need. In addition to email and SMS campaign creation, it also offers:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Segmentation and personalisation</li><li>Link error review</li><li>Signup forms</li><li>Transactional emails based on purchases</li></ul><p><br></p><p>However, a few advanced features are missing - such as landing page creation, survey creation (as opposed to linking a survey within the email), and creating highly customised dashboards for analytics.</p>
4

Functionality

4/10

<p>Loops focuses on delivering email marketing essentials for startups. This includes excellent functionality for creating email series, developer-friendly APIs for sending transactional emails, and simple functionality for managing mailing lists. However, this means that compared to other marketing tools, Loops lacks a lot of functionality, e.g. running A/B tests, creating custom forms/ surveys, analytics.</p>
Ease of Use
8

Ease of Use

8/10

<p>Campaign Monitor is generally easy to navigate and pick up - the average startup employee would require around 1-2 hours and minimal guidance to proficiently use all key functionalities of the product. Key functions, such as flows, campaigns, and segments, are also very easily accessible.</p>
8

Ease of Use

8/10

<p>A limited set of features, combined with ample, step-by-step guidance in the platform means Loops is intuitive and easy to use. For example, compared to most other tools, it is refreshingly simple to build a email series to new users.</p><p>However, as it's been designed for startups, do note that Loops is still more technical in nature, offering features like components for designing emails and requiring knowledge of coding for transactional emails/ certain customizations (e.g. dynamic images), which may be a bit daunting for non-technical users.</p>
Look and feel
7

Look and feel

7/10

<p>While the interface is not as modern as some other competitors we've tested, Campaign Monitor has an attractive look and feel, with fast load times.</p>
8

Look and feel

8/10

<p>Loops is a simple, modern, uncluttered interface that is a joy to use. Key functionality and info are extremely easy to locate, and page loads are also lightning fast.</p>
Customisability
7

Customisability

7/10

<p>Much of the product is highly customisable by creating custom email campaigns, edit email templates, or create email/SMS campaigns directly from scratch. Good conditional segmentation and flow creation are also offered, contributing to a rich selection of functionalities.</p>
2

Customisability

2/10

<p>Loops only offers basic customisability. For example, you can only create segments based on their properties/ engagement with your campaigns - but not based on how they interact with your website/ app, nor bring in custom events.</p><p>For client-facing assets, compared to traditional drag-and-drop email builders offered by most marketing automation platforms, Loops's Notion-like editor only allows you to make light stylistic &amp; formatting changes to emails. You're also unable to customise signup forms to collect info besides data.</p>
Ease of Setup
7

Ease of Setup

7/10

<p>Campaign monitor has a self-serve free trial, and it's easy to purchase without speaking to sales. Basic setup is also easy to complete, taking us on average 30 minutes. Fully customising (e.g., setting up lists and workflows) is fast, taking at most 1 day, without needing to consult help centre articles or contacing the customer support team. </p>
8

Ease of Setup

8/10

<p>Because of its simple and intuitive interface, Loops is extremely easy to setup. Basic setup is blazingly fast (less than 10 minutes), and fully customizing should take less than 2 hours, with minimal help from customer support and self-serve help materials.</p>
Customer Support
8

Customer Support

8/10

<p>Excellent customer support is provided by Campaign Monitor. There is a personalised live-chat available in app (though not 24/7, only office hours, in the Americas, Europe, Australia and Asia). There's also a self-serve support through their help centre with high depth and quality.</p>
8

Customer Support

8/10

<p>Loops offer high-quality, sincere support. Within the app, you can directly email or book in 20-minute calls with Loops' Founders. Personalised live chat with Loops' developer team is also available during US business hours.</p>
Integratability
9

Integratability

9/10

<p>Campaign Monitor has almost all of the integrations that a business would need. From advertising and billing, to helpdesk, e-commerce, and landing pages, your currently used apps are likely integratable into Campaign Monitor's page.</p>
6

Integratability

6/10

<p>For now, Loops only offers a slim set of core integrations required by startups e.g. Stripe, Webflow, Segment, HubSpot, Zapier. It's still missing common integrations seen in the category, e.g. with ecommerce platforms like Shopify. However, it does have a high-quality API for any custom integrations, especially with your own application.</p>
Ease of Migration
7

Ease of Migration

7/10

<p>Subscriber lists are easily exportable via a self-serve function.</p><p><br></p><p>Other data may also be accessed via an API, opening up more possibilities for integrating the platform with other software.</p>
6

Ease of Migration

6/10

<p>You can export your list of audience (contacts) into CSV format via self-serve. However, since Loops doesn't have a dedicated reporting module, it doesn't seem possible export campaign performance data out of Loops. Other info can be exported via Loops' API.</p>
