PS

Pipedrive and Folk serve different CRM needs. Pipedrive excels for sales teams with its powerful pipeline management, marketing tools, and in-depth reporting - ideal for established sales processes and growing teams.

Its strong lead management and marketing features work well for businesses wanting sales and marketing in one platform. Folk offers a more flexible approach that can accommodate non-sales use cases, while featuring outstanding LinkedIn integration and email sequencing. If your team relies heavily on LinkedIn prospecting and email outreach, or needs a versatile CRM beyond traditional sales, Folk is the better choice.

Advantages of Folk

Folk has a significantly better LinkedIn integration

Folk's best-in-class Chrome Extension works seamlessly across LinkedIn, Gmail, X, and Instagram, allowing one-click contact extraction and bulk profile imports from LinkedIn searches. Unlike Pipedrive, which only integrates with LinkedIn Lead Gen forms, Folk enables teams to efficiently capture leads from LinkedIn content marketing and speed up personalized outreach with message templates.

Folk is more customizable for different use cases
We find Folk offers greater flexibility to adapt to various use cases like sales, recruiting, and partnerships through custom objects and fully customizable pipelines. In contrast, Pipedrive is primarily sales-focused and lacks custom objects functionality, making it less suitable for teams needing to track specialized information beyond standard CRM data.
Folk has superior email sequence capabilities
Folk's email sequencing functionality (rated 8) is more sophisticated, with built-in AI assistance for crafting personalized messages and comprehensive sequence analytics. Pipedrive (rated 4) lacks a dedicated sequencing feature, requiring users to create sequences through workflow automation, which limits tracking and personalization capabilities.

Advantages of Pipedrive

Pipedrive is significantly better at managing sales pipelines
We found Pipedrive's pipeline management to be far more sophisticated than Folk's. While testing, we were impressed by Pipedrive's ability to estimate deal values per stage, assign stage weights for closing probability, and mark deals as inactive after a set period. Unlike Folk, Pipedrive also offers a unique forecast view that combines closed and open deals, making it particularly valuable for sales teams needing accurate revenue projections.
Pipedrive offers superior marketing capabilities
Pipedrive provides a comprehensive marketing toolkit that Folk lacks entirely. During testing, we found Pipedrive's marketing features strike an excellent balance between power and ease of use, including website visitor tracking, chatbot integration, and a drag-and-drop email builder. This makes Pipedrive particularly valuable for teams needing integrated sales and marketing capabilities.
Pipedrive has much better lead management capabilities
Pipedrive's dedicated Leads Inbox and automated lead routing features significantly outperform Folk's basic lead management. While testing, we found Pipedrive's system particularly useful for sales teams needing to qualify and prioritize leads efficiently. Folk, in contrast, only offers basic lead pipeline setup without dedicated lead management features.
Pipedrive provides more comprehensive reporting
Pipedrive offers significantly more robust reporting capabilities than Folk. Our testing revealed Pipedrive's ability to report on pipeline metrics, activity metrics, contacts, revenue, and forecasts, making it particularly valuable for teams needing detailed performance insights. Folk's reporting, still in beta, is limited to basic metrics and lacks customization options.

Folk is less good for

 • Who need advanced sales features like territory management, lead scoring, or automated lead routing
 • And who require comprehensive marketing automation or website visitor tracking

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
5

Functionality

5/10

Folk focuses on delivering functionality that startups & small teams will need. Besides the CRM basics like managing contacts and pipelines, Folk also offers email sequencing, data enrichment, and an excellent Chrome Extension that allows you to add contacts from anywhere.

However, its lack of any meaningful analytics and automation functionality prevents it from being a CRM that can be used by larger teams.

8

Functionality

8/10

Pipedrive offers most of the functionality that SMBs will need. Besides allowing you to manage contacts, leads and your sales pipeline, Pipedrive also allows you to send email sequences, automate workflows, and layer on marketing functionality via add-ons (e.g. create marketing emails, chat bots, web forms, track website visitors).

However, it lacks some advanced features such as a dialer that allows you to make calls from your browser, adding contacts from LinkedIn and data enrichment. These will require 3rd party integrations.

Ease of Use
8

Ease of Use

8/10

Folk is quick and simple to use, like a spreadsheet. It takes no time to get started with Folk. With a few clicks, you can import all the contacts you've had interactions with by syncing your Gmail + Google Calendar. Folk also automatically suggests groups you can create based on your contacts.

However, there are some UX quirks that will take some time to get used to e.g. the list of all your people & companies are tucked behind the "search" menu.

8

Ease of Use

8/10

Pipedrive is built for sales team - we found it very easy to locate key information, and most sales workflows such as prioritising and routing leads were also highly intuitive. An average SMB employee should only require 1-2 hours to master key functionalities of the product.

Look and feel
8

Look and feel

8/10

Folk has a clean and modern interface that's visually appealing. It also has fast load times (1 second per page).

7

Look and feel

7/10

We find Pipedrive's interface clean and modern, and acceptable to load (~2 seconds per page).

Customisability
8

Customisability

8/10

Folk is a highly flexible CRM designed to be used with different use case, from tracking sales, recruitment, partnerships and more. To that end, you're able to fully customise your pipelines, and even create pipelines based on custom data objects e.g. a pipeline to track "products".

However, we did find some limitations with data types that can be stored e.g. you're unable to add data as percentages, checkboxes, ratings.

5

Customisability

5/10

Built for sales teams, this also makes Pipedrive less customisable compared to competitors. Although you can customizable most fields and pipeline stages, most of its modules and terminology are rather sales-oriented e.g. you must have a "leads inbox", pipeline cards must be "deals".

It also lacks the ability to add custom objects, which allows you to track items besides people and companies e.g. subscription types or vendors and track custom web events e.g. add to cart.

Ease of Setup
10

Ease of Setup

10/10

Folk offers a simple, self-serve free tier. Thanks to Folk's familiar spreadsheet-like layout, we found the initial setup to be extremely simple (taking <5 mins). You can connect your email with a few clicks, and all your contacts sync automatically. Due to Folk's limited feature set, fully customising the platform is also a breeze e.g. downloading Folk's extension, setting up sequences), and should be done within 1-2 hours.

6

Ease of Setup

6/10

Pipedrive offers a free trial without need to speak to sales. Completing basic setup is simple, taking about 10 minutes to import your contacts and set up pipelines. That said, getting the platform fully up and running, and getting your team up to speed, can take up to a week. This is especially true if you’re exploring Pipedrive’s add-ons for marketing, prospecting, and project management.

Customer Support
9

Customer Support

9/10

Folk offers in-app live chat with live, human agents who are helpful and very quick to respond (within a few minutes).

Integratability
2

Integratability

2/10

Folk offers limited pre-built integrations, covering only a few popular tools like Gmail, Outlook, Slack, Mailchimp, and Calendly. Instead, it encourages users to build their own integrations through platforms like Zapier and Make. Additionally, it lacks an API for custom integrations, which limits flexibility for more tailored solutions.

8

Integratability

8/10

Pipedrive has pre-built integrations with most relevant 3rd party products and an API that allows buyer to build own integrations where necessary.

Ease of Migration
6

Ease of Migration

6/10

Folk offers exports of key data available self-serve. However, it doesn't seem possible to export data via an API.

8

Pipedrive allows users to export key data (contacts, accounts, deals) via self-serve. Export of most other data are also available via API or on request.
