GanttPRO and Monday serve distinct project management needs, with GanttPRO excelling in simplicity and core project management features, while Monday offers broader functionality and automation.

GanttPRO is better suited for teams prioritizing ease of use and straightforward project management, particularly those focused on Gantt chart-based planning. Monday is more appropriate for teams requiring extensive automation, integrations, and diverse project views, though it comes with a steeper learning curve. For small teams seeking simplicity and direct project management, GanttPRO is the better choice. For growing organizations needing scalability and automation, Monday offers more comprehensive solutions despite its complexity.

Advantages of GanttPRO

GanttPRO is significantly easier to use for project management
We found GanttPRO's interface notably more straightforward and intuitive than Monday's. While Monday offers numerous templates and features, this can become overwhelming. In contrast, GanttPRO's focused approach means an average startup employee would require only 1-2 hours of minimal guidance to become proficient, compared to Monday's 1-2 days.
GanttPRO excels at dependency management
GanttPRO's dependency management is more intuitive than Monday's, with dependencies generating automatically in the Gantt view and simple drag-and-drop functionality. Monday's dependency feature is still in beta and limited to four basic relationship types.
GanttPRO offers superior customer support responsiveness
GanttPRO's customer support stands out with fast response times (under 1 hour for live chat) and comprehensive self-serve materials. Monday's support, while decent, tends to default to sending Help Centre articles rather than providing direct assistance.

Advantages of Monday.com

Monday is significantly more powerful at workflow automation
Monday's automation capabilities are vastly superior to GanttPRO's complete lack of automation features. We found Monday's intuitive workflow builder allows teams to automate routine tasks with 74 third-party app integrations, while GanttPRO requires manual handling of all task updates and status changes. This is particularly valuable for teams looking to reduce time spent on administrative tasks.
Monday provides native document creation and collaboration
Unlike GanttPRO which requires document imports, Monday offers built-in document creation and collaboration features. While not as customizable as specialized tools like Notion, Monday allows teams to create and edit documents directly within projects, making it more suitable for teams needing integrated documentation capabilities.
Monday offers substantially more integration options
Monday's integration capabilities far exceed GanttPRO's limited offering. We connect with hundreds of apps through our marketplace and Zapier integration, while GanttPRO lacks these essential connections. This makes Monday a better choice for teams using multiple tools in their workflow.

GanttPRO is best for

  • Businesses with a low number of active projects (3-5 projects at a time)
  • Who need intuitive Gantt chart management and want easy task dependency creation through drag-and-drop
  • And/or who want detailed time tracking with built-in timers and comprehensive workload visualization

Monday.com is best for

  • Businesses with a moderate number of active projects (5-10 projects at a time)
  • Who need intuitive workload management and resource allocation, like visualizing team capacity across multiple projects
  • And/or who want extensive workflow automation with third-party integrations, such as automatically creating tasks from emails or support tickets.

GanttPRO is less good for

  • Businesses with a high number of active projects (10+ projects at a time)
  • Who need automated workflow management and extensive third-party integrations
  • And/or who need built-in document creation and real-time collaborative features

Monday.com is less good for

  • Businesses with a high number of active projects (10+ projects at a time)
  • Who need advanced project portfolio management capabilities and complex task dependencies
  • And/or who want sophisticated workflow automation with complex branching logic and multi-step approval processes.

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
5

Functionality

5/10

<p>The functionality, where it exists, is strong. For example, creating dependencies in the gantt view is very easy and nicely customisable. However, there are features which GanttPro really misses. Most notably, there is a real lack of automation features. The closest that GanttPro comes in the ability to set a personalised reminder a set number of days before a deadline. However, generally, if you have lots of tasks you will spend a lot of time closing them or moving them to different statuses. All things would save valuable time if done automatically.</p>
7

Functionality

7/10

<p>Monday.com offers almost all the functionality most companies need to manage tasks and projects effectively. It has rich functionality natively such as robust automation, customizable forms, time-tracking, analytics, and even invoice creation. This allows teams to streamline their workflows and enhance productivity without relying heavily on external integrations.</p><p>However, it's missing the advanced customizability and automation that larger teams require to manage complex task and project relationships e.g. creating multiple layers of subtasks, meaningful project portfolio management functionality and sophisticated workflows with branches.</p>
Ease of Use
8

Ease of Use

8/10

<p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">GanttPro is easy to use. An average startup employee would require around 1-2 hours + minimal guidance to proficiently use all key features of the product. </span></p><p><br></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">It is easy to locate key info and processes are generally intuitive. However, some workflows are not always located where you would expect them to be. For example, to create a notification you have to click into settings - rather than a notification bell icon as you would expect.</span></p>
7

Ease of Use

7/10

<p>Monday.com offers a generally user-friendly experience, with an abundance of templates and smooth onboarding that lowers the barrier of entry for non-technical, new users.</p><p>However, when delving into more advanced features, the platform's ease of use starts to wane. There's foreign terminology such as adding a "Problem Framing" quickies block to your docs, or enabling "battery view" for your board. The interface can also become cluttered as you use projects scale and more features are utilised.</p><p>For the average SMB employee, it might take 1-2 days with minimal guidance to become comfortable with the platform.</p>
Look and feel
6

Look and feel

6/10

<p>GanttPro has a very plain look. It lacks colour and could do with some more modern touches. That being said, the general UI architecture is easy to navigate - so it does the job.</p><p><br></p><p>Loading times are can be slightly longer depending on the function being performed, but generally are around ~1.5 second.</p>
7

Look and feel

7/10

<p>Monday.com emphasizes visual management with bright, engaging colours and customisable icons. While this visual approach makes it easy to understand project statuses at a glance, it could also quickly get cluttered and busy, Page loads are quick (1-2 seconds).</p>
Customisability
5

Customisability

5/10

<p>There is not much to customise with GanttPro. One strong customisation feature is are project templates. Here a template is created by you saving a project as a template. This means you can customise much of the project details (milestones, tasks, dependencies etc) and save it for later use.</p><p><br></p><p>Reports and dashboards can be customised using filters. You can filter by user, project, task, start/end date, custom fields etc. (where they are relevant).</p>
8

Customisability

8/10

<p>As an all-in-one tool, Monday.com offers a high level of customizability suitable for most teams, allowing you to tailor boards with custom columns, statuses, and automation without needing to code. Individual cards can be anything from tasks, projects to deals, employees and client. However, it doesn't match the advanced customization capabilities of tools like JIRA —such as creating multiple layers of subtasks or defining complex task relationships—which may limit larger teams managing complex projects.</p>
Ease of Setup
8

Ease of Setup

8/10

<p>Ganttpro is easy to set-up, with a strong selection of project templates and no need to talk to sales before purchase. Fully customising Granttpro is an intuitive process which should not take more than a day.</p>
9

Ease of Setup

9/10

<p>Offers a self-serve free trial and allows purchase without needing to talk to sales. Getting started and setting up a few tasks and subtasks should take 20-30 minutes, because it has a very rich library of templates. Full setup should take less than a day.</p>
Customer Support
8

Customer Support

8/10

<p>A live-chat is available in app a with fast replies usually in less than 1 hour. Email support is also friendly and useful, with replies usually taking less than 6 hours.</p><p><br></p><p>Self-serve materials are of excellent depth and quality with articles and a full suit of videos running through all functionalities of the product.</p>
7

Customer Support

7/10

<p>Monday.com offers personalised live chat within the platform. When contacted, it was extremely quick to connect with an agent who was decently helpful - although there still seems to be a tendency to send us Help Centre articles. Self-help resources on their Help Centre are high-quality and extensive.</p>
Integratability
6

Integratability

6/10

<p>Out-of-the-box integrations are few, with only 6 offered, but GanttPro has an API allowing teams to build where necessary.</p>
9

Integratability

9/10

<p>Monday.com has a vibrant app marketplace with hundreds of plugins and integrations with the most relevant third party apps (e.g. CRM, marketing, developer tools etc). Its standout feature is its pre-built automation templates with most of these apps, which can be added with one-click. It also has an API for custom integrations.</p>
Ease of Migration
8

Ease of Migration

8/10

<p>Exports of key and more advance data are available self-serve. Exporting a project, a portfolio, a workload a task list, reports and time logs can all be done self-serve. Exports are available to <span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">PDF, by default, but&nbsp;you can also choose PNG, XML, or Excel (depending of the data being exported).</span></p>
8

Ease of Migration

8/10

<p>While you can self-serve export data to formats like Excel, not all information—such as activity logs or certain file attachments—transfers seamlessly. Like other PM tools, custom fields and complex workflows might require manual rebuilding in the new platform, and these limitations can complicate migration efforts for teams with intricate setups.&nbsp;</p>
