Granola and Metaview are built for very different use cases in the AI notetaker space.

Granola is a lightweight, easy-to-use tool that’s great for individuals and small teams. It’s fast, intuitive, and nails the basics — with quick, accurate notes and a generous free tier that covers up to 25 meetings.

Metaview is aimed at larger teams, especially in recruiting. It offers deeper customization, advanced analytics, and powerful search and reporting features. The free tier is limited (just 5 meetings), but the feature set is clearly built for serious, high-volume use — not casual users.

Advantages of Granola

Granola generates meeting notes faster and more accurately than Metaview

During our testing, Granola demonstrated superior speed in generating meeting notes, with notably fast and accurate transcription compared to competitors. This is particularly valuable for teams needing quick turnaround on meeting documentation. Granola's transcription capabilities outperform Metaview's in terms of both speed and accuracy.

Granola offers more discreet recording than Metaview

We found Granola's ability to record meetings without a visible bot presence to be a significant advantage, especially for sensitive meetings or sales calls where a bot's presence might be distracting. Metaview, by contrast, requires a bot to join meetings, which can be less ideal for certain professional contexts.

Advantages of Metaview

Metaview is significantly more customizable for note templates

We found Metaview's template system to be exceptionally powerful, allowing users to create custom rules for keywords and display them in various styles (text, number, yes/no, multiple choice, date). This is particularly valuable for teams who need consistent note-taking formats across different meeting types. Granola, while offering customizable templates, provides less granular control over the format and structure.

Metaview provides superior search and filtering capabilities
Metaview's advanced filtering in Views allows users to search by conversational aspects, event details, and custom criteria, making it much more powerful than Granola's basic search which often fails to find meetings by note, person, or email. This is especially valuable for teams needing to quickly locate specific meeting content.
Metaview excels at cross-meeting analytics

While Granola doesn't offer multi-meeting insights, Metaview's Interview Comparison feature accurately detects common topics across interviews and provides side-by-side comparisons. This is crucial for teams needing to analyze patterns across multiple meetings. Granola's AI assistant can only handle single-meeting analysis.

Metaview offers vastly superior integration capabilities
With native integrations for multiple ATS platforms (Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever) and support for Zapier, Salesforce, and HubSpot, Metaview provides much broader connectivity than Granola, which only offers basic Slack integration. This makes Metaview particularly valuable for recruiting teams needing seamless workflow integration.

Granola is best for

 • Businesses with a low meeting volume (5-10 meetings per week) who want a simple, unobtrusive notetaking solution
 • Who need fast, accurate transcription with real-time AI summaries and don't require complex integrations
 • And/or who want customizable meeting templates and single-meeting AI insights without team collaboration features

Metaview is best for

 • Businesses with high meeting volume (20-50 meetings per week) conducting regular recruitment interviews
 • Who need highly customizable reports and detailed engagement analytics for recruitment meetings
 • And/or who want advanced ATS integrations and side-by-side interview comparisons

Granola is less good for

 • Businesses with high meeting volume (20-50 meetings per week)
 • Who need comprehensive search capabilities and meeting organization features
 • And/or who need cross-meeting analytics and extensive integrations with business tools

Metaview is less good for

 • Businesses with low meeting volume (5-10 meetings per week) who need basic notetaking without recruiting-specific features
 • Who need keyword search functionality within meetings
 • And/or who need mobile app access for recording in-person meetings

8/10

The user interface is polished and well-designed, avoiding feature overload on any page. The "Views" page is well-organised, with filters at the top, results displayed compactly, and charts neatly arranged on the side.

Customisability
5
