Greenhouse and Recruitee serve distinctly different segments of the hiring market. Greenhouse is the superior choice for large enterprises managing high-volume recruiting, offering extensive integrations, sophisticated reporting, and powerful automation capabilities.

However, its complexity and steep learning curve make it overkill for smaller organizations. Recruitee, with its intuitive interface and excellent careers page builder, is better suited for growing companies with moderate hiring needs who value ease of use and employer branding capabilities.

Advantages of Greenhouse Recruiting

Greenhouse is significantly more powerful for enterprise-scale hiring

With the ability to purchase postings on over 1,000 job boards through its Job Ad Market, free integrations with 58 job boards, requisition management, job kickoff forms, and other advanced features, Greenhouse excels at high-volume recruiting. This makes it particularly valuable for large enterprises managing a high volume of concurrent hiring pipelines, a level of enterprise-grade functionality that Recruitee does not support.

Greenhouse provides more sophisticated reporting and analytics
Unlike Recruitee, Greenhouse offers 40+ pre-built report templates and allows for complex custom reports that can group metrics by any data field. This provides deeper insights into hiring metrics like conversion rates and candidate source effectiveness, which set it apart from Recruitee.

Advantages of Recruitee

Recruitee is significantly more user-friendly
We found Recruitee's interface to be remarkably intuitive and straightforward, requiring minimal training for new users. The average startup employee can become proficient within an hour, unlike Greenhouse which demands significant upfront training. This makes Recruitee particularly valuable for teams that need to get up and running quickly or have frequent changes in hiring team members.
Recruitee offers superior no-code careers page customization

Recruitee provides an excellent drag-and-drop careers page builder with extensive customization options, while Greenhouse's no-code careers page builder is extremely limited. Teams can create branded, engaging career pages without technical expertise, unlike Greenhouse which requires coding knowledge for meaningful customization.

Greenhouse Recruiting is best for

  • Businesses with a very high hiring volume (10+ job positions at a time)
  • Who need sophisticated workflow automation for standardizing high-volume hiring processes
  • And/or who want advanced reporting capabilities

Recruitee is best for

  • Businesses with moderate to high hiring volume (>5 open positions at a time)
  • And needs a feature-rich ATS that is also very easy-to-use
  • And needs a highly customizable careers page

Greenhouse Recruiting is less good for

  • Businesses with low hiring volume (1-2 job positions at a time)
  • Who need a no-code solution for building a on-brand careers page
  • And/or who need an intuitive, easy-to-use ATS without extensive training

Recruitee is less good for

  • Businesses with low hiring volume (1-2 positions open at a time)
  • Who want an affordable, lightweight ATS
  • And/or who need candidate nurturing features

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
9

Functionality

9/10

<p>Greenhouse is a legacy, heavyweight ATS that offers all functionality that most companies, including enterprises will need.</p><p>The only features missing are the more delightful touches for candidate experience (e.g. allowing candidates to upload a video on their application form) or granular reporting functionality offered by newer ATS, such as Teamtailor and Ashby.</p>
8

Functionality

8/10

<p>Besides essential ATS features like job posting, interview scheduling, and candidate tracking, Recruitee also allows you to create fully automated workflows, build customisable career pages, interview kits and scorecards, enable self-scheduling for candidates and more.</p><p>However, it lacks advanced features like email nurturing and weighted scorecards.</p>
Ease of Use
3

Ease of Use

3/10

<p>Users we've interviewed (and ourselves) find Greenhouse very complex, and difficult to locate key information. There are too many buttons to click to do something, so everything takes longer than it needs to.</p><p>Teams need to invest significant upfront time for training to fully utilize Greenhouse.&nbsp;</p>
9

Ease of Use

9/10

<p><span style="color: rgb(9, 9, 11);">Despite its rich functionality, Recruitee has a simple, uncluttered UI that is very easy to use. Key workflows such as creating a job opening, customizing an interview pipeline and setting up automations are all very straightforward and intuitive. An average startup employee should require around an hour and minimum guidance to use the product proficiently.</span></p>
Look and feel
5

Look and feel

5/10

<p>We find Greenhouse visually acceptable but looks a bit tired/ dated both in its internal and external facing elements.</p>
7

Look and feel

7/10

<p>Recruitee has a simple, uncluttered and visually appealing interface - though we find it to be a bit on the plainer side. It also has fast page load times.</p>
Customisability
8

Customisability

8/10

<p>Greenhouse offers high customizability. Users can customize fields, dashboards, alerts, scorecards, and even use custom CSS for external elements.&nbsp;</p>
8

Customisability

8/10

<p>You can customise most things on Recruitee, from data fields, interview stages, job application forms, and more. It provides an excellent drag-and-drop careers site builder with highly customizable features.</p><p>However, it lacks the ability to customize individual interview stages with reusable templates or the layout of the platform.&nbsp;</p>
Ease of Setup
4

Ease of Setup

4/10

<p>Greenhouse does not offer a free trial and purchasing requires you to talk to sales. Due to Greenhouse's unintuitive user interface, it takes 30-60 mins to complete basic setup. Fully customizing key features takes approximately a week.</p>
9

Ease of Setup

9/10

<p>Recruitee offers a free trial and purchasing doesn't require you to speak to sales. The platform has a simple UI that makes completing basic setup easy; &lt;30mins. Fully customizing key features takes approximately 1 business day.</p>
Customer Support
6

Customer Support

6/10

<p>While we haven't been able to test this ourselves, users we've interviewed report that it takes longer for the support team to respond compared to competitors such as Lever and Workable.</p>
7

Customer Support

7/10

<p>Recruitee provides in-app live chat with friendly live human agents. However, our testers found they had to answer quite a few questions with an AI chatbot to be routed to a human, and response times are a bit slow (2 - 4 hours). On the positive side, they offer a high-quality help centre.&nbsp;</p>
Integratability
10

Integratability

10/10

<p>With 450 pre-built integrations with third-party tools and an open API, Greenhouse definitely has one of the richest integration ecosystem out of ATS's we've come across. It integrates with most HRIS's, screening and collaboration tools.</p>
9

Integratability

9/10

<p>Recruitee offers 120+ integrations covering a wide range of tools including HRIS, assessments, background checks, e-sign tools, and video interviews. It also connects to 2900 job boards (21 are free). It also has an API for custom integrations.</p>
Ease of Migration
6

Ease of Migration

6/10

<p>We've found the reporting module of Greenhouse lacks flexibility and is not user-friendly. Exporting crucial candidate information, such as DE&amp;I attributes, poses a challenge. Changes made to interview stages during the hiring process can also complicate data exports.</p>
8

Ease of Migration

8/10

<p>Exports of key data (candidate, job, employee data) are available via self-serve download to CSV. Most other data are available via API are on request.&nbsp;</p>
