Both are powerful, reliable (yet expensive) HRIS best for larger teams with more complex workflows who need advanced automation capabilities and customisability. HiBob is better suited for teams who want an HRIS with rich culture/ engagement functionality and a gentler learning curve for admins.

Meanwhile, Rippling is better suited for teams looking for an all-in-one HRIS with richer functionality (e.g. app/ device management) and best-in-class reporting and automation functionality.

Advantages of HiBob

HiBob offers richer engagement functionality

Both HiBob and Rippling allow you to send custom surveys to employees. But unlike Rippling, HiBob also has a social-media like homepage (integrated with Slack/ MS Teams) where employees can create announcements, celebrate birthdays, welcome new hires and give shoutouts. HiBob also encourages employee connections by allowing users to view and sort employees based on hobbies, skills, gender pronouns, nationality, and more.

HiBob has a gentler learning curve

Both platforms offer extensive customisability that will require time to get used to. But Rippling's richer functionality mean a steep learning curve, especially with its powerful automation and reporting modules. The sheer number of temples, data fields, and the ability to build reports and automated workflows from scratch makes mastering workflows and analytics rather challenging.

In comparison, HiBob offers a more intuitive experience for admins.

<p>HiBob offers all the functionality most SMBs will need.</p><p>Besides core HR features like storing employee information and managing time off, HiBob also allows you to recruit applicants via a native ATS, run payroll for UK employees, set goals/ OKRs, run performance and compensation reviews and more.</p><p>The only functionality we find missing is the ability to manage employees' hardware and software access.</p>

<p>We've found Rippling’s customer support to be poor.</p><p>Navigating their AI chatbot just to reach a human agent is a frustrating experience. On top of that, their account managers often come across as overly sales-focused, making it feel like their main goal is to upsell rather than assist. This sentiment is echoed by many customers we’ve spoken to. Rippling doesn’t allow you to self-demo the product before committing to their minimum 1-year contract, which feels both overly aggressive and unhelpful.</p>
