Humaans and KiwiHR serve distinctly different market segments within the HRIS space. Humaans excels as a modern, highly intuitive platform ideal for fast-growing companies that value automation and integration capabilities, with standout features in workflow automation and reporting. Its superior customer support and ease of use make it particularly suitable for teams prioritizing efficiency and user experience.

KiwiHR, conversely, positions itself as a more basic, all-in-one solution for small businesses, offering native (though basic) payroll, learning management, and expense features. While KiwiHR provides more built-in functionality, its features are generally less sophisticated than Humaans' core offerings.

Advantages of Humaans

Humaans is far superior in ease of use
Humaans stands out for its highly intuitive interface and straightforward workflows. Key tasks like adding new hires and requesting time-off are exceptionally simple, requiring minimal training time compared to KiwiHR's more complex interface. This is particularly valuable for fast-growing companies where quick employee onboarding is essential.
Humaans offers significantly better customer support
With a stellar customer support system, Humaans provides responsive in-app support with human agents typically responding within an hour. This is vastly superior to KiwiHR's 2-day response SLA and reliance on AI chat. For HR teams requiring quick resolution of issues, this difference is crucial.
Humaans has superior workflow automation
While KiwiHR lacks workflow automation capabilities, Humaans offers robust automation features including event-based triggers and historical task tracking. This makes it particularly valuable for teams looking to streamline their HR processes and reduce manual work.

Advantages of KiwiHR

KiwiHR offers better native learning & development features
Unlike Humaans which lacks native L&D functionality, KiwiHR provides built-in training management capabilities. Users can create different types of training (safety, internal, certificate, course) and upload associated documents, though it's worth noting that training can only be assigned to one employee at a time.
KiwiHR provides more comprehensive core HR functionality
While Humaans relies heavily on third-party integrations, KiwiHR offers more built-in features including payroll functionality and learning management. This makes KiwiHR a better choice for companies wanting an all-in-one solution rather than Humaans' modular approach.

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
7

Functionality

7/10

By design, Humaans focuses on offering high-quality, core HR functionality, including storing employee information, managing time-off, tracking hours worked and workflow automation. It has recently added performance management, but still lacks other functionality such as surveys, payroll and software & device management.

5

Functionality

5/10

KiwiHR offers some of the basic functionality that most companies will need (such as storing employee information and documentation, and managing time-off), but lacks some other functionality that we see from competitors (e.g., performance management, surveys). When it comes to the functionality that KiwiHR does offer, we found that most of the time, these functions were largely basic offerings, lacking advanced features.

Ease of Use
10

Ease of Use

10/10

Humaans is highly intuitive and easy to use. Key workflows such as adding new hires, requesting time-off and automating workflows are very straightforward.

An average startup employee should require less than 30 minutes, independently, to use the product proficiently.

8

Ease of Use

8/10

Through our testing, we believe that an average SMB employee would require around half a day to become proficient at using KiwiHR. Most tasks and features are located in an intuitive location, and the clear and effective layout helps users to navigate between these sections.

Look and feel
10

Look and feel

10/10

Humaans is one of the most visually stunning B2B platforms we've come across. Its uncluttered and modern user interface is a breath of fresh air. It also shines with blazingly fast page loads.

8

Look and feel

8/10

KiwiHR has a very visually appealing user interface with acceptable load times (1< seconds).

Customisability
7

Customisability

7/10

You can customise most things on Humaans, from data fields, reports, leave policies, workflow templates and more.

However, it still lacks the deeper customisability offered by more mature HRIS (e.g. Rippling, Deel), such as creating more complex approval chains and customising the layout of the platform.

4

Customisability

4/10

KiwiHR offers basic customization options throughout the product. Users can add custom fields to employee profiles and set up sophisticated workflows for processes like onboarding/offboarding.

However, the software lacks the flexibility to customize workflows beyond preset parameters. Even when creating a report from scratch, users are restricted to working within predefined categories of data, limiting the platform's adaptability for more complex or unique business needs.

Ease of Setup
6

Ease of Setup

6/10

Humaans does not offer a free trial and purchasing requires talking to sales. It takes <10mins to complete basic setup (entering company information and adding employees). Fully customizing and setting up the platform can be done within 1-2 business days. Customization and setup is simple enough to not require an expert and more complicated processes can be done with help from the help center.

Customer Support
9

Customer Support

9/10

Humaans offers excellent in-app support and live chat with human agents. Our testers usually get a response within an hour, and have found the team to be friendly and open to feedback.

4

Customer Support

4/10

We found KiwiHR's self-serve support website to be fairly barebones, but we did like the in-app AI chat. We found that it was able to answer all of our questions, but also provided recommendations of workarounds where a particular function was not possible (such as setting company-wide holidays). Failing this, however, the live customer support we found to be weak, with a response SLA of up to 2 days.

Integratability
6

Integratability

6/10

Humaans supports 40+ pre built integrations with most relevant 3rd party products in relevant categories, such as ATS, performance management, finance, benefits and more. It also has an API for custom integrations.

2

Integratability

2/10

While KiwiHR offers an open API for building custom integrations, its selection of pre-built integrations is incredibly limited. It doesn't integrate with many popular HR tools like QuickBooks (Accounting), Lattice (Performance Management), and Workable (ATS). Even connecting with Google/ Outlook Calendar requires you to enter a URL link. KiwiHR really only works for teams planning to use Tellent for all their HR needs i.e. Javelo for performance management, and Recruitee for recruiting.

Ease of Migration
8

Ease of Migration

8/10

Exports of key data are available via self-serve, and most other data are available via self-serve or their API.

3

Ease of Migration

3/10

KiwiHR offered a broad range of data that users are able to export themselves, and while it did not offer pre-built integrations with other apps to export data, it does provide an API for users to manually do this.
