PS

Lemlist and Hunter serve distinctly different needs in the lead generation space. Lemlist excels as an outbound sequencing platform with additional prospecting capabilities, making it ideal for SMBs focused on multi-channel outreach who need basic prospecting functionality. Its superior email sequencing and intent-based filtering capabilities are standout features.

However, Hunter proves more suitable for teams prioritizing ease of use and company-centric prospecting, despite its limited feature set. However, both products have sever weaknesses meaning you're likely better off looking elsewhere.

Advantages of Hunter

Hunter is significantly more intuitive to use
We found Hunter's web app to be considerably more intuitive and reliable compared to Lemlist's clunky and buggy interface. While testing Hunter, we experienced a clean, minimalist design with fast-loading search pages, whereas Lemlist's interface was plagued with UX issues like poorly positioned UI elements and unresponsive loading spinners.

Lemlist provides superior customer support responsiveness

Lemlist's live chat support consistently provides quick responses, often in under 5 minutes, with technical issues typically resolved on first contact. In comparison, Hunter's support is more basic.

Lemlist is significantly better at email sequencing
We found Lemlist's email sequencing to be well-executed and feature-rich, scoring notably higher than Hunter's basic offering. While testing, we particularly appreciated Lemlist's ability to engage across multiple channels (LinkedIn, Phone) within a sequence, whereas Hunter only provides basic email sequencing with limited features like deliverability analytics.

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
4

Functionality

4/10

Hunter lacks many core features you'd hope to see from a lead generation platform. When it comes to prospect search, the first hurdle you'll face is the relatively small size of its database - this is due to the fact that they only source emails from public websites and do not cross-reference with any additional data sources. Additionally, many common prospecting filters were missing such as company revenue, contact job title and contact tenure. Finally, adjacent features around email engagement were also light on features meaning you'd likely need to pay separately for a dedicated outbound engagement platform.

6

Functionality

6/10

Lemlist is not your typical lead generation tool. Instead, it's core functionality is outbound sequencing and as part of that, there's a native prospecting tool built in. Though Lemlist's contact database is large (450M contacts) and the filters it provides are granular - we find it to be inaccurate and cumbersome to use. In many case, it failed to provide emails for our usual test searches. That being said, Lemlist's outbound functionality is well executed and feature rich.

Ease of Use
6

Ease of Use

6/10

Hunter's relatively limited feature set means that its web app is intuitive and easy to navigate. Additionally, its onboarding was simple and not overwhelming. However, one drawback is that its contact prospecting interface is non-standard amongst competitors making it harder to pick up. Overall, it would take an average SMB employee a few hours to master its use.

Ease of Use

3/10

We find Lemlist's web app to be well laid out and intuitive to navigate. However, certain interfaces, such as the prospecting interface, are cumbersome to use. Additionally, list building interface was particularly buggy and confusing to use - often displaying error messages with no clear action for the user to resolve.

4

Look and feel

4/10

Lemlist's design aesthetic is modern, clean and easy on the eyes. However, we noticed some elements of the UI were often positioned poorly or cut off by other components - for example, the inability to close toast messages was particularly annoying on many occasions.

4

Customisability

4/10

While Hunter offers the ability to create custom lists, it lacks some customisability facets that larger businesses may find helpful. These include the ability to share custom searches with colleagues or to manage and assign territories to specific sales agents.
