Loxo and Join best serve different types of hiring needs. Loxo is better suited for medium to large companies with sophisticated hiring needs, offering superior workflow automation, comprehensive reporting, and extensive customization options. Its strength in candidate management and automation makes it ideal for teams handling high volumes of candidates.

Join, on the other hand, is better suited for smaller companies or those just starting with an ATS, offering an intuitive interface, excellent assessment capabilities, and broad job board reach, all with a gentler learning curve. While both platforms handle core ATS functionality well, their distinct strengths make them appropriate for different types of organizations.

Advantages of Join

Join is significantly easier to use than Loxo
Join has the gentlest learning curve we've seen in an ATS, with a highly intuitive interface that new users can master in under an hour. In contrast, Loxo requires around 2 hours to learn and has some confusing workflows, like their multi-step process for adding custom questions to application forms.
Join has better job board reach than Loxo
Join integrates with 250+ job boards (10+ for free), while Loxo only connects with 12 job boards. This gives Join users significantly broader reach in their candidate sourcing efforts.
Join offers superior candidate assessment capabilities
Join provides over 1000 pre-built assessments integrated directly into the platform, allowing hiring teams to evaluate candidates comprehensively. Loxo lacks native assessment capabilities, requiring customers to purchase separate assessment tools.
Join offers better multi-language support
Join supports 5 languages for internal teams (English, German, Spanish, French, Dutch) and 4 languages for career sites, while Loxo only supports English. This makes Join much more suitable for international companies.

Advantages of Loxo

Loxo offers superior reporting and analytics
Unlike Join, Loxo provides comprehensive analytics including time-to-hire, conversion rates, and source tracking. We create custom reports and set goals with progress tracking, making Loxo well-suited for data-driven hiring teams who need to optimize their recruitment process.
Loxo is significantly better at workflow automation
Loxo's workflow automation capabilities are far more advanced than Join's. We offer sophisticated email sequences, interview scheduling automation, and customizable approval flows, whereas Join only provides basic email automation for applications and rejections. This is particularly valuable for companies with high-volume hiring needs who want to reduce manual administrative work.
Loxo has better candidate import capabilities
While both platforms offer LinkedIn Chrome extensions, Loxo provides additional methods for adding candidates including CSV imports and resume parsing. Join lacks these bulk import features, making Loxo more efficient for teams handling large volumes of candidates.
Loxo provides more extensive customization options
We find Loxo offers more flexibility in customizing workflows, scorecards, and career pages compared to Join. Loxo provides deeper customization capabilities out-of-the-box, whereas Join requires API usage for similar customization.

  • Who need a highly intuitive ATS with multi-job board posting and built-in candidate assessments

Loxo is best for

  • Businesses with moderate hiring volume (3-5 open positions at a time)
  • Who need efficient technical talent sourcing with unlimited email outreach campaigns and one-click LinkedIn imports
  • And/or who want strong workflow automation but don't require extensive candidate assessments.

Join is less good for

  • Businesses with a moderate to high hiring volumes (>2 open positions at a time)
  • Who need advanced workflow automation and reporting capabilities
  • And/or who need deep HRIS integrations and customizable approval flows

Loxo is less good for

  • Businesses with high hiring volume (5-10 job positions at a time)
  • Who need sophisticated candidate assessment and scoring capabilities
  • And/or who need deep HRIS integrations for employee lifecycle management.

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
6

Functionality

6/10

<p>Join offers some of the functionality most SMBs will need for hiring. This includes multi-posting to 10+ job boards, native online assessments, pre-screening questions, and interview kits. It also has an excellent Chrome Extension for adding candidates from LinkedIn. However, it does lack some core functionality such as interview scheduling, CV parsing, and reporting functionality.&nbsp;</p>
7

Functionality

7/10

<p>Loxo offers nearly all functionality that an SMB will need: email automation, a career site builder, CV parser, interview scorecards etc.) The most notable functions which is missing is candidate assessments which can incur the user extra costs should they wish to conduct such assessments.</p><p>AI sourcing features are particularly strong. New features now allow you to see why the AI has chosen to source a particular candidate.</p>
Ease of Use
10

Ease of Use

10/10

<p>Due to its lightweight nature, Join has the gentlest learning curve out of the ATS's we've come across. It is highly intuitive and easy to use.</p><p>The only minor quibble we have is the ability to drag and drop stages in the interview pipeline.&nbsp;</p>
8

Ease of Use

8/10

<p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Loxo has a simple and easy-to-use interface. We estimate an average start-up employee would require around 2 hours minimal guidance to master all the key functionalities of the product.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Most functions and processes are easy to find and intuitive. Some more complex workflows can feel unnecessarily long-winded. For example, when adding custom questions to an application form, first a form must be created with all custom questions you wish to add and then this form can be added to your original application form. However, there are very few features like this.</span></p>
Look and feel
9

Look and feel

9/10

<p>JOIN has a modern, attractive and uncluttered interface with fast load times which makes it a joy to use.</p>
8

Look and feel

8/10

<p>Loxo is not stunning but it is, visually, more than acceptable.&nbsp;</p><p>The loading times between pages are also fast (~1 second) creating a frictionless UX.</p>
Customisability
5

Customisability

5/10

<p>Join offers less customisation than more heavyweight ATS's. For example, you can't delay emails to candidates, add team members to specific roles to help with hiring, or add more than one question type to interview kits.</p><p>However, it provides standard levels of customisability for job application forms and interview pipelines.&nbsp;</p>
7

Customisability

7/10

<p>Loxo offers most of the customisations than any SMB will need. These include: customisable scorecards, interview pipelines, application forms (with plenty of question types), custom reporting functions and customisable outreach campaigns. However, some of these customisations are particularly extensive. For example, there is not option to an overall score to a candidate via the scorecard functionality and the careers page only offers basic customisations.</p>
Ease of Setup
10

Ease of Setup

10/10

<p>Join offers a free plan that doesn't require speaking to sales to gain access and upgrading also doesn't require speaking to sales. The platform is highly intuitive; completing basic setup takes &lt;10mins. Fully customizing key features takes approximately 1 business day.</p>

A personalised Q&amp;A is available via in-app, live chat with friendly, human agents who offer helpful response within minutes during business hours. </span></p><p><br></p><p>The self-service materials also have great depth and quality. 3

Integratability

3/10

<p>Join only has pre-built integrations with 2 of the key HRISs (Personio and Factorial) and has no integrations with any e-sign or background check tools.&nbsp; However, it does have an API for custom integrations.</p>
6

Integratability

6/10

<p>Loxo offers API that allows users to build desired integrations where necessary. However, they do not integrate with many third party hiring products. For example, they lack assessment software, background checks and HRIS integrations.&nbsp;Furthermore, some integrations are limited. For example, the integration with Zoom only allows you to click a 'join meeting' button. You cannot create or attend meetings through the Loxo UI.</p>
