Join and Pinpoint serve distinctly different segments of the ATS market. Join excels as a lightweight, user-friendly solution perfect for small teams with occasional hiring needs, offering an intuitive interface and essential features without overwhelming users.

Pinpoint, on the other hand, is a robust platform designed for organizations with higher hiring volumes and complex recruitment processes, providing advanced automation, sophisticated evaluation tools, and comprehensive analytics. Choose Join if you're a small team prioritizing ease of use and simplicity; opt for Pinpoint if you need powerful features for managing larger-scale hiring operations.

Advantages of Join

Join has a more modern and uncluttered interface
Join's interface stands out with its clean, modern design and exceptionally fast load times. While Pinpoint also has an attractive interface, Join's uncluttered design makes it notably more pleasant to use, especially for teams that value simplicity and efficiency.
Join is significantly easier to use than Pinpoint
We found Join to have the gentlest learning curve of any ATS we've tested, making it perfect for small teams new to structured hiring. While Pinpoint requires at least half a day of training, Join can be mastered in under an hour. This is particularly valuable for companies where hiring isn't a full-time focus.
Join offers native candidate assessments while Pinpoint requires third-party integration
Join provides over 1,000 pre-built assessments directly within the platform, allowing teams to evaluate candidates more comprehensively without additional integrations. In contrast, Pinpoint requires third-party integration for assessment functionality, making the process more complex and potentially more expensive.

Advantages of Pinpoint

Pinpoint is far more customizable across all aspects
We found Pinpoint offers exceptional customization capabilities that Join lacks. We can create highly tailored experiences, from weighted candidate scorecards to granular interview templates with multiple parts. This level of customization is particularly valuable for companies with complex hiring processes or specific evaluation needs.
Pinpoint offers superior candidate evaluation tools
Pinpoint's evaluation capabilities significantly outperform Join's, with the ability to create multiple weighted scorecards per candidate and evaluate sub-skills within sections. We prefer Pinpoint's granular approach, which allows for much more detailed candidate assessment, crucial for making informed hiring decisions.
Pinpoint has significantly more powerful workflow automation
While Join only offers basic email automation, Pinpoint provides comprehensive workflow automation capabilities. You can set up automated actions when moving candidates across stages, including scheduling links, task assignments, and custom email sequences. This is particularly valuable for teams handling high-volume hiring.
Pinpoint provides much richer analytics and reporting
Unlike Join which lacks reporting functionality, Pinpoint offers rich, intuitive analytics with pre-built reports covering everything from rejection reasons to candidate NPS. You can build custom reports and share visual dashboards, making it much easier to optimize your hiring process and demonstrate ROI.

Functionality

6/10

Join offers some of the functionality most SMBs will need for hiring. This includes multi-posting to 10+ job boards, native online assessments, pre-screening questions, and interview kits. It also has an excellent Chrome Extension for adding candidates from LinkedIn. However, it does lack some core functionality such as interview scheduling, CV parsing, and reporting functionality.

7

Ease of Use

7/10

Because of the extensive customizability, there is a learning curve to determine where to set up different templates to assemble a complete hiring and interview pipeline. An average startup employee would require at least half a day and some guidance to master all the key functionalities.

But beyond the initial curve, Pinpoint is user-friendly and straightforward to navigate, with fully automated workflows saving significant time. The only quibble we have is a lack of Kanban view to view candidates on a visual pipeline.
