PS

Lattice emerges as the clearly superior performance management solution with its modern interface, comprehensive feature set, and intuitive user experience. It's particularly well-suited for medium to large organizations requiring advanced performance management capabilities, including sophisticated OKR frameworks, AI-assisted tools, and extensive customization options. PerformYard, while offering solid basic functionality and efficient pulse surveys, is better suited for smaller organizations seeking straightforward performance management tools without advanced features. The significant gap in ease of use, visual design, and functionality makes Lattice the stronger choice for organizations prioritizing user adoption and comprehensive performance management capabilities.

Advantages of Lattice

Lattice is significantly more intuitive and user-friendly than PerformYard
While PerformYard presents challenges with interface complexity, Lattice offers an intuitive design that helps users quickly adopt the platform. We found that after mastering just 1-2 modules, users can confidently navigate additional areas, supported by well-designed guided workflows. This is particularly valuable for organizations prioritizing quick employee adoption and engagement.
Lattice offers superior OKR framework implementation compared to PerformYard
Unlike PerformYard's basic goal tracking, Lattice provides a comprehensive OKR framework with intuitive goal cards and clear organizational alignment. During testing, we found the guided update process particularly effective, making it simple for employees to track and update their goals while maintaining visibility of larger organizational objectives.
Lattice has a more polished and engaging visual design than PerformYard
While PerformYard appears dated with a sparse corporate feel, Lattice delivers a professional yet visually appealing platform with consistent design across all modules. This modern interface maintains visual engagement during extended use, which is crucial for ensuring regular platform interaction by all users.
Lattice provides more comprehensive functionality than PerformYard
Compared to PerformYard's basic feature set, Lattice offers the most comprehensive functionality among all Performance Management software we evaluated, including AI-assisted tools throughout the platform. This makes Lattice better suited for organizations needing advanced performance management capabilities.

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
9

Functionality

9/10

Lattice is a top-tier Performance Management platform that packs extensive features and AI tools throughout its system. While it excels in most areas, it lacks some quality-of-life features found in competing platforms - most notably, pre-built pulse surveys that are ready for immediate use.

6

Functionality

6/10

PerformYard offers several of the key features one would expect from a more comprehensive performance management product. We like the very straightforward product offering and the focus on the two-way feedback process between manager and employee.

We would have liked to see more features to round out this product i.e. scheduling recurring review cycles as to not repeat work and deeper analytics insights from reviews.

The platform seems to perform better with engagement tracking opposed to 360 review and supplementary analytics. We saw this in testing with the much more detail-rich Engagement module with detailed dashboards. However, even the more polished Engagement module lacked customisability and granular control.

Ease of Use
8

Ease of Use

8/10

Lattice's consistent interface design helps users get up to speed quickly. The personalized landing page gives immediate access to tasks, goals, and key information. Once users master 1-2 modules, they can easily navigate the rest of the platform. A standout feature is the guided workflow that walks users through outstanding tasks via an information-rich yet well-designed interface. For administrators, expect a somewhat steeper learning curve due to the platform's extensive functionality.

4

Ease of Use

4/10

PerformYard offers reasonable usability once you've familiarized yourself with it. During our testing, navigation felt straightforward and managing surveys became manageable after an adjustment period. The standard navigation layout eases transition from similar platforms.

While basic scheduling features support review cycles, we were disappointed by the limited automation capabilities. If you need recurring cycles, accessible templates, or more streamlined processes, you'll find PerformYard's limitations frustrating.

Look and feel
9

Look and feel

9/10

Lattice offers intuitive interfaces for both managers and end users. Managers and team members enjoy a professional, visually appealing platform with consistent design across all modules. HR executives and administrators benefit from a clean, comprehensive console that remains visually engaging even during long sessions. However, a few pages (like the Explorer and personal development sections) suffer from visual clutter and feel more complex than the rest of the platform.

4

Look and feel

4/10

PerformYard's interface looks noticeably dated compared to competitors, with a corporate and sparse aesthetic. While you can make minor improvements through branding and customization options, the overall platform feels older and lacks visual appeal. Though it maintains a standard navigation layout (top bar for sub-modules, sidebar for page navigation), we found the rest of the UI dated and slow to load during our testing. If you prioritize a modern, responsive interface, you'll likely be disappointed by PerformYard's visual experience.

Customisability
7

Customisability

7/10

Lattice provides standard visual customization options including logos and themes.

Where it truly excels is in its extensive data configuration capabilities, allowing administrators to load chosen datasets into an explorer tab for further analysis and visualisation.

Each feature page also includes multiple data views, complemented by the dedicated explorer for creating custom visualisations.

However, Lattice's customisation capabilities are somewhat limited when it comes to documents, forms, and surveys compared to some competitors like ThriveSparrow which offers extensive visual and structural changes to their review forms.

4

Customisability

4/10

PerformYard offers basic customization options throughout its platform, including limited capabilities for forms, analytics, reporting, and goal planning. The main portal allows for some branding adjustments, but these are also restricted.

During our initial demo, we learned that working with your assigned customer success manager is necessary for more extensive customization needs.

For organizations seeking both an immediate ready-to-use solution and the ability to extensively customize features without assistance later on, alternative platforms would be more suitable.

Ease of Setup
8

Ease of Setup

8/10

Lattice provides a smooth onboarding process with helpful guided walkthroughs and a well-designed trial account. The pre-populated sample data effectively demonstrates all platform functions and serves as a setup guide. During testing, we had accounts running and surveys deployed within a day—suggesting most organizations could be operational just as quickly. One area for improvement is Lattice's integration capabilities, which are only slightly above average and might limit data importing options.

4

Ease of Setup

4/10

We found PerformYard to be slightly below average in ease of setup. Though our initial platform walkthrough with their sales rep was straightforward, it didn't instill confidence in our ability to immediately start using key features. During testing, we struggled to acclimatize to the platform's navigation, with important functions buried deep within settings and setup pages.

When we consulted their team about challenges, they revealed that many processes (like creating custom forms) must be handled through backend settings, adding unnecessary friction when trying to quickly launch surveys. Their solution was to schedule additional training calls and rely on customer success support. In our estimation, an HR executive would need a full day just to import data, plus another day to successfully launch their first review cycle.

Customer Support
5

Customer Support

5/10

We found Lattice's chat support bot to be easily accessible with a single click. However, its effectiveness is limited by one significant drawback: conversations don't persist when users navigate between pages, forcing them to restart their support queries with each page change.

5

Customer Support

5/10

In our testing, customer support responded within 1-2 hours of outreach, which is reasonably prompt. However, we were frustrated that accessing help is unnecessarily difficult—the help section is tucked away within the main portal and requires searching to find. When you do locate and click into the help section, it inconveniently opens an external help page where the support chat is finally visible in the typical bottom right corner. This multi-step process to access support diminishes an otherwise decent response time.

Integratability
6

Integratability

6/10

Whilst not the most extensive in the category, Lattice offers a decent suite of native integrations. These span your typical top HRIS platforms plus a few across ATS, communication, IAM, background checks, and benefits.

We would have liked to have seen some native integrations for project management software like Jira, having to instead rely on their API.

4

Integratability

4/10

PerformYard's integration capabilities are somewhat limited compared to industry standards. They connect with only the most basic and widely-used products. While they do offer an API for custom connections, which is positive, nearly all integrations beyond a handful of common tools across 2-3 categories would require custom connector development by PerformYard's technical team rather than being available as ready-to-use options.

Ease of Migration
5

Ease of Migration

5/10

Due to the limited number of native integrations, Lattice only connects and exports through the typical formats of PDF, CSV, and pushing to Slack amongst others.

5

Ease of Migration

5/10

PerformYard supports standard data export options - CSV and PDF formats. Additional data can be transferred through its existing native integrations or through custom connections built using their API.
