Loops and Moosend serve distinctly different audiences in the email marketing space. Loops excels with its modern, intuitive interface and startup-focused features, making it ideal for software companies seeking a straightforward email marketing solution. Its organization of campaigns by customer journey stages (acquisition, onboarding, retention) particularly suits SaaS companies.

However, Moosend is better suited for e-commerce businesses and marketing teams requiring comprehensive features, offering extensive customization options, A/B testing, and rich analytics, despite its dated interface and steeper learning curve.

Advantages of Loops

Loops has a vastly superior user interface
The modern, uncluttered interface of Loops provides a significantly better user experience compared to Moosend's dated and cluttered design. While testing, we found Loops' pages load quickly and elements remain properly aligned, unlike Moosend where elements often overlap when resizing the browser window.
Loops is significantly more intuitive to use
We found Loops' streamlined interface and focused feature set makes it remarkably easy to use, especially for creating email sequences. While Moosend overwhelms users with scattered settings and unexplained features, Loops provides clear step-by-step guidance that helps users quickly accomplish their email marketing tasks.
Loops offers better startup-focused features
We found Loops excels at organizing email campaigns by customer journey stages (acquisition, onboarding, retention, etc.), which is particularly valuable for software startups. This contrasts with Moosend's e-commerce focus, making Loops more suitable for SaaS companies and startups.
Moosend Product Logo

Advantages of Moosend

Moosend offers much richer functionality
Moosend provides a comprehensive suite of marketing tools that Loops lacks, including A/B testing, landing pages, visual dashboards, and advanced segmentation capabilities. While Loops focuses on email essentials, Moosend delivers the full spectrum of marketing automation features that growing businesses need.
Moosend is significantly more customizable
We found Moosend offers extensive customization options that far exceed Loops' capabilities. While Loops only provides basic customization through its Notion-like editor, Moosend allows users to deeply customize everything from email designs to automation workflows. This makes Moosend particularly valuable for marketing teams who need to create highly tailored campaigns.
Moosend has superior data export capabilities
Moosend provides more comprehensive data export options compared to Loops, including the ability to export custom reports about campaign performance and email list changes. While Loops only allows basic contact list exports, Moosend enables teams to extract and analyze detailed marketing metrics.
Moosend provides better form building capabilities
Moosend's form builder is significantly more capable than Loops', offering six types of forms (pop-up, inline, floating bar, full screen) and the ability to collect custom fields. In contrast, Loops only offers basic email capture with minimal customization options.

Loops is best for

  • Startups with low email volume who want simple, fast emails
  • Who want a lightweight, efficient tool for simple email sequences
  • And/or who want to leverage real-time customer data from multiple sources for targeted automation

Moosend is best for

  • Businesses with low email volume (1k-5k emails per month)
  • Who need highly customizable e-commerce email marketing and need advanced automation workflows with granular targeting
  • And/or who want comprehensive e-commerce email features and need landing pages and signup forms without coding

Loops is less good for

  • Businesses with high email volume (10k-50k emails per month) who need advanced marketing automation capabilities
  • Who need sophisticated email design capabilities and extensive template libraries for non-technical marketers
  • And/or who want comprehensive marketing analytics and need advanced segmentation based on website behavior or custom events

Moosend is less good for

  • Businesses with high email volume (10k-50k emails per month) who need omnichannel marketing capabilities
  • Who need an intuitive, easy-to-use platform with clear guidance on advanced features
  • And/or who want modern e-commerce integrations like Shopify, Stripe, or Webflow

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
4

Functionality

4/10

<p>Loops focuses on delivering email marketing essentials for startups. This includes excellent functionality for creating email series, developer-friendly APIs for sending transactional emails, and simple functionality for managing mailing lists. However, this means that compared to other marketing tools, Loops lacks a lot of functionality, e.g. running A/B tests, creating custom forms/ surveys, analytics.</p>
8

Functionality

8/10

<p>Moosend offers almost all the email marketing functionality that e-commerce SMBs need. This includes building complex automated email workflows, landing pages, sign-up forms, and more. Its email builder, while not the most intuitive, is one of the most feature-rich we've come across—you can add countdown timers and showcase your products directly in your emails. It also boasts one of the richest email template libraries we've seen. However, Moosend doesn't offer marketing functionality for other channels like SMS, social media, or ads.</p>
Ease of Use
8

Ease of Use

8/10

<p>A limited set of features, combined with ample, step-by-step guidance in the platform means Loops is intuitive and easy to use. For example, compared to most other tools, it is refreshingly simple to build a email series to new users.</p><p>However, as it's been designed for startups, do note that Loops is still more technical in nature, offering features like components for designing emails and requiring knowledge of coding for transactional emails/ certain customizations (e.g. dynamic images), which may be a bit daunting for non-technical users.</p>
4

Ease of Use

4/10

<p>We find that Moosend is so packed with features and customization options that it can be overwhelming and confusing. Advanced features often lack explanation or guidance. For example, in the email editor, there are multiple panels where you can edit the same thing, and elements like customizing a "slot" or "anchoring" text come without any explanation. Filters are also often ungrouped, so you have to scroll through a long list to locate the right one. It could take an average SMB employee at least a week and some assistance to feel comfortable using the platform.</p>
Look and feel
8

Look and feel

8/10

<p>Loops is a simple, modern, uncluttered interface that is a joy to use. Key functionality and info are extremely easy to locate, and page loads are also lightning fast.</p>
2

Look and feel

2/10

<p>We find Moosend's interface to be quite dated, with most screens cluttered by excessive information and customization options. The design isn't responsive, so when you resize your browser window, elements often overlap or text spills out of containers, making it frustrating to use. However, page load times are acceptable (1-2 seconds).</p>
Customisability
2

Customisability

2/10

<p>Loops only offers basic customisability. For example, you can only create segments based on their properties/ engagement with your campaigns - but not based on how they interact with your website/ app, nor bring in custom events.</p><p>For client-facing assets, compared to traditional drag-and-drop email builders offered by most marketing automation platforms, Loops's Notion-like editor only allows you to make light stylistic &amp; formatting changes to emails. You're also unable to customise signup forms to collect info besides data.</p>
8

Customisability

8/10

<p>Moosend is about as customizable as it gets for a platform designed for non-technical marketing teams (i.e. without code) You can build complex automated email workflows and customize most client-facing assets. For example, you can branch email workflows to target different percentages of your audience, and you can almost completely customize landing pages and forms using a drag-and-drop builder. However, you can't segment users based on custom events that require code or use custom data objects.</p>
Ease of Setup
8

Ease of Setup

8/10

<p>Because of its simple and intuitive interface, Loops is extremely easy to setup. Basic setup is blazingly fast (less than 10 minutes), and fully customizing should take less than 2 hours, with minimal help from customer support and self-serve help materials.</p>
4

Ease of Setup

4/10

<p>We found that getting up and running on Moosend took longer than with other Marketing Automation platforms. This is largely down to two things: advanced features being extremely hard to set up, and the layout of the platform itself being unintuitive.</p><p><br></p><p>During our testing, basic setup took more than 45 minutes, and advanced setup took up to a few days.</p>
Customer Support
8

Customer Support

8/10

<p>Loops offer high-quality, sincere support. Within the app, you can directly email or book in 20-minute calls with Loops' Founders. Personalised live chat with Loops' developer team is also available during US business hours.</p>
8

Customer Support

8/10

<p>You can contact Moosend's support team via live chat on the platform. Even during peak hours, we got connected to a human agent within minutes, and agents were always friendly and helpful. However, Moosend's help centre is only of average depth/ quality.</p>
Integratability
6

Integratability

6/10

<p>For now, Loops only offers a slim set of core integrations required by startups e.g. Stripe, Webflow, Segment, HubSpot, Zapier. It's still missing common integrations seen in the category, e.g. with ecommerce platforms like Shopify. However, it does have a high-quality API for any custom integrations, especially with your own application.</p>
5

Integratability

5/10

<p>Despite having a huge library of pre-built integrations, we found that Moosend is lacking a few key integrations, especially for ecommerce. For example, it doesn't integrate with Shopify, the leading ecommerce platform, not Webflow, the leading web builder. It also doesn't integrate with Stripe, which allows you to directly collect payments from your emails/ newsletter.</p>
Ease of Migration
6

Ease of Migration

6/10

<p>You can export your list of audience (contacts) into CSV format via self-serve. However, since Loops doesn't have a dedicated reporting module, it doesn't seem possible export campaign performance data out of Loops. Other info can be exported via Loops' API.</p>
8

Ease of Migration

8/10

<p>You can easily export key data via self-serve into Excel/ CSV format e.g. email list, email list by status, segments etc. It also has a reporting module where you can export custom data about campaign performance, email list changes etc.</p>
