Moosend and MailerLite serve distinct market segments within the email marketing space. Moosend excels in providing deep customization and advanced automation capabilities without requiring technical expertise, making it ideal for growing e-commerce businesses that need sophisticated marketing workflows. Its AI-powered features and comprehensive data export options further enhance its appeal for data-driven teams.

However, MailerLite stands out with its modern interface, superior landing page builder, and better e-commerce integrations, making it more suitable for small businesses prioritizing ease of use and visual design. While both platforms offer robust email marketing capabilities, their strengths align with different user needs - Moosend for advanced automation and customization, MailerLite for user-friendly design and e-commerce integration.

Advantages of MailerLite

MailerLite is significantly more user-friendly for email marketing
While both platforms offer comprehensive email marketing capabilities, MailerLite provides a much cleaner, more intuitive interface compared to Moosend's cluttered and overwhelming interface. This makes it particularly valuable for small businesses and marketing teams who need to get campaigns running quickly without extensive training.
MailerLite offers superior landing page capabilities
MailerLite's landing page builder stands out with its modern, professional templates and AI-powered page creation. While Moosend also offers landing page functionality, MailerLite's templates are more contemporary and require less customization effort. This is particularly valuable for teams looking to quickly launch professional-looking landing pages.
MailerLite has better e-commerce platform integration
MailerLite offers native integration with key e-commerce platforms like Shopify and Stripe, while Moosend lacks these crucial integrations. This makes MailerLite a more practical choice for e-commerce businesses needing seamless integration with their sales platforms.
MailerLite provides better analytics visualization
MailerLite excels in analytics visualization with detailed breakdowns and unique features like click heatmaps for websites and landing pages, while Moosend offers more basic reporting capabilities. This makes MailerLite particularly valuable for teams that need deep insights into their marketing performance.

Advantages of Moosend

Moosend is significantly more customizable for non-technical users
We found Moosend offers exceptional customization capabilities without requiring coding knowledge. Users can create complex automated email workflows with granular targeting options and deeply customize landing pages and forms. While MailerLite also offers customization, it's more limited and often buggy in execution.
Moosend provides more comprehensive email automation functionality
Moosend's automation builder offers 18 detailed templates and advanced functionality like weather-based targeting and percentage splits. This contrasts with MailerLite's limited template selection and less intuitive automation interface, making Moosend better suited for sophisticated email marketing campaigns.
Moosend has superior AI capabilities
Moosend includes AI-powered features for message drafting and content creation, while MailerLite lacks any AI functionality. This makes Moosend more valuable for teams looking to streamline their content creation process.
Moosend offers better data exportability
Moosend provides comprehensive self-serve export options for key data including custom reporting capabilities, while MailerLite requires contacting support for certain exports. This makes Moosend more suitable for data-driven teams.

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
8

Functionality

8/10

<p>MailerLite has most functionalities that businesses would need within marketing automation, including email campaign management, email templates, automated sending, landing pages, and surveys. However, it's missing some advanced features –&nbsp;notably, the ability to make custom analytics dashboards. We'd also caution against MailerLite users because of the bugs we experienced during testing (which compromised the email campaign creation experience).</p>
8

Functionality

8/10

<p>Moosend offers almost all the email marketing functionality that e-commerce SMBs need. This includes building complex automated email workflows, landing pages, sign-up forms, and more. Its email builder, while not the most intuitive, is one of the most feature-rich we've come across—you can add countdown timers and showcase your products directly in your emails. It also boasts one of the richest email template libraries we've seen. However, Moosend doesn't offer marketing functionality for other channels like SMS, social media, or ads.</p>
Ease of Use
5

Ease of Use

5/10

<p>MailerLite is extremely easy to pick up, making it an ideal choice for beginners to email marketing. Fair warning though –&nbsp;if you're looking to write rich text emails / emails from scratch, it's extremely time-consuming to add photos, edit text, and quickly write emails on the fly.</p><p><br></p><p>We also noticed a few times when elements or text was deleted without us noticing, meaning the software sadly isn't bug-free where it matters most!</p>
4

Ease of Use

4/10

<p>We find that Moosend is so packed with features and customization options that it can be overwhelming and confusing. Advanced features often lack explanation or guidance. For example, in the email editor, there are multiple panels where you can edit the same thing, and elements like customizing a "slot" or "anchoring" text come without any explanation. Filters are also often ungrouped, so you have to scroll through a long list to locate the right one. It could take an average SMB employee at least a week and some assistance to feel comfortable using the platform.</p>
Look and feel
7

Look and feel

7/10

<p>Page load times on MailerLite are a bit slower than some of its counterparts - but not so slow as to be a dealbreaker for most people.</p><p><br></p><p>The interface in general is super pleasant and simple, and the drag-and-drop builder is also extremely simple and slick.</p>
2

Look and feel

2/10

<p>We find Moosend's interface to be quite dated, with most screens cluttered by excessive information and customization options. The design isn't responsive, so when you resize your browser window, elements often overlap or text spills out of containers, making it frustrating to use. However, page load times are acceptable (1-2 seconds).</p>
Customisability
6

Customisability

6/10

<p>We haven't been able to give MailerLite a high score on customisability because its rich text email editor is simply too difficult and frictionful to use, meaning that you either have to opt for their nice pre-made templates, or find another app to use.</p><p><br></p><p>If you're looking to use exclusively templates, you shouldn't be too concerned about this drawback.</p>
8

Customisability

8/10

<p>Moosend is about as customizable as it gets for a platform designed for non-technical marketing teams (i.e. without code) You can build complex automated email workflows and customize most client-facing assets. For example, you can branch email workflows to target different percentages of your audience, and you can almost completely customize landing pages and forms using a drag-and-drop builder. However, you can't segment users based on custom events that require code or use custom data objects.</p>
Ease of Setup
8

Ease of Setup

8/10

<p>We found MailerLite to be extremely easy to setup. Since it's so beginner friendly, there (a) wasn't much setup to be done, and (b) where there was, the toggles and customizations were minimal.</p>
4

Ease of Setup

4/10

<p>We found that getting up and running on Moosend took longer than with other Marketing Automation platforms. This is largely down to two things: advanced features being extremely hard to set up, and the layout of the platform itself being unintuitive.</p><p><br></p><p>During our testing, basic setup took more than 45 minutes, and advanced setup took up to a few days.</p>
Customer Support
8

Customer Support

8/10

<p>We have seen great things about MailerLite's customer service chats, and their fast and helpful support agents. On top of this, they provide comprehensive video tutorials, FAQ and troubleshooting, and a useful community if you need advice.</p>
8

Customer Support

8/10

<p>You can contact Moosend's support team via live chat on the platform. Even during peak hours, we got connected to a human agent within minutes, and agents were always friendly and helpful. However, Moosend's help centre is only of average depth/ quality.</p>
Integratability
8

Integratability

8/10

<p>Like most of the marketing automation platforms that we tested, MailerLite supports almost all of the integrations that a small to medium business might need. Crucially, it boasts integrations with e-commerce, marketing, CRM, payment, and design platforms.</p>
5

Integratability

5/10

<p>Despite having a huge library of pre-built integrations, we found that Moosend is lacking a few key integrations, especially for ecommerce. For example, it doesn't integrate with Shopify, the leading ecommerce platform, not Webflow, the leading web builder. It also doesn't integrate with Stripe, which allows you to directly collect payments from your emails/ newsletter.</p>
Ease of Migration
8

Ease of Migration

8/10

<p>MailerLite makes it easy to export your contacts and segments through a self-serve button in their interface. To export other information, you'd have to contact their customer service.</p>
8

Ease of Migration

8/10

<p>You can easily export key data via self-serve into Excel/ CSV format e.g. email list, email list by status, segments etc. It also has a reporting module where you can export custom data about campaign performance, email list changes etc.</p>
