Zoho People and Plumm serve distinct market needs in the HRIS space. Zoho People excels in customization, workflow automation, and data management, making it better suited for larger organizations with complex HR processes and technical resources. However, its poor usability and customer support make it challenging to implement and maintain.

Plumm, conversely, shines in user experience and specialized features like learning and development, making it ideal for SMBs prioritizing ease of use and employee development. While Plumm lacks some advanced customization options, its superior support and intuitive interface make it a more practical choice for organizations valuing quick implementation and user adoption.

Advantages of Plumm

Plumm offers significantly better performance reviews
Plumm's performance review system excels with its comprehensive approach, supporting multiple review perspectives and leveraging AI to streamline drafting. We appreciate its seamless integration with tasks and goals. In contrast, Zoho People offers limited performance review functionality that can feel cumbersome and lacks sophisticated features.
Plumm is far superior at learning & development
We found Plumm's learning and development features to be exceptional, with AI-powered course generation, customizable training programs, and comprehensive mental wellbeing features including mood tracking and therapist access. In contrast, Zoho People offers only basic learning management capabilities. This makes Plumm particularly valuable for organizations prioritizing employee development and mental health support.
Plumm is significantly easier to use
Plumm's interface is notably more intuitive, requiring only half a day for new users to become proficient. Zoho People, in comparison, has a steep learning curve that can take days to master, with users often struggling to locate basic functions.
Plumm provides superior customer support
While testing, we found Plumm's customer support to be highly responsive with quick email response times (<6 hours) and helpful AI chatbot assistance. This contrasts sharply with Zoho People's slow response times and difficult-to-navigate support resources.

Advantages of Zoho People

Zoho People is significantly more customizable
With extensive customization options, Zoho People offers remarkable flexibility compared to Plumm's limited capabilities. We can freely create custom fields for employee profiles directly in the platform, whereas Plumm requires contacting technical support for such changes. This adaptability is particularly valuable for organizations needing to track unique employee data points or customize the system to specific workflows.
Zoho People has superior workflow automation
Zoho People's workflow automation capabilities are notably more advanced than Plumm's, which lacks this feature entirely. The platform allows for sophisticated automation of tasks like email notifications, approvals, and document management, making it particularly valuable for larger organizations with complex HR processes.

Stackfix Verdict
Functionality
7

Functionality

7/10

Plumm is a feature-rich HRIS with mental health at its core. It combines recruiting, payroll and more in one integrated platform, and offers some additional nifty features such as access to 1-1 therapy and coaching, and an AI mental health chatbot.

However, it falls short on some table-stake features. For instance, adding a custom field requires contacting Plumm's technical team, and the platform lacks integration with Google or Outlook Calendar to view time-off, which can be a significant limitation for many teams.

6

Functionality

6/10

Zoho offers a wide range of features, covering basics along with more advanced functionality like compensation management, 360 performance review, and more at a very low cost.

While Zoho offers plenty of functionality, many features feel underdeveloped, with poor usability limiting their overall effectiveness.

Ease of Use
7

Ease of Use

7/10

Plumm is generally a user-friendly platform. Key information and functionality can be easily located, and Plumm guides you through more key processes e.g. setting up a performance review cycle. However, with Plumm's rich functionality, there is a learning curve that needs to be overcome by HR admins.

1

Ease of Use

1/10

We found trying to use Zoho to be a difficult process. We found that undertaking a simple task, such as adding different employee location options, involved visiting multiple different potential locations where this functionality may have sat before finding the correct location. We predict that it would take an average SMB employee a number of days to be able to proficiently use the product.

Look and feel
6

Look and feel

6/10

Plumm features a modern and visually appealing design, complete with icons and subtle animations that enhance the user experience. However, its page load times can be slower than other HR systems, at times taking up to 3-4 seconds.

4

Look and feel

4/10

Zoho has a visually acceptable layout, and web pages load reasonably fast.

Customisability
6

Customisability

6/10

Most aspects of Plumm is highly customisable.

While most aspects of the platform is customizable, you are unable to add custom fields to employee profiles directly from the platform; you have to contact Plumm's tech team to add custom fields for you.

8

Customisability

8/10

Zoho offers a reasonably high degree of customisability. Adding custom fields for employee information, editing performance review templates, and create automated workflows are all functions which Zoho offers.

Ease of Setup
6

Ease of Setup

6/10

Plumm does offer a free trial but gaining access requires talking to sales once. It takes 10-30mins to complete basic setup (entering company information, adding employees). Fully customizing and setting up the platform takes approximately 1 week with the help from an expert, due to its rich functionality.

9

Ease of Setup

9/10

Zoho provides a 30-day free trial which does not require users to contact sales before accessing the free trial. Fully customizing and setting up the platform takes 1-2 business days.

Customer Support
8

Customer Support

8/10

Plumm's customer support is good. The AI chatbot can explain features and provide step-by-step instructions on how to execute different tasks. Plumm also provides video tutorials on how to use different features on the platform. Customer support agents are also quick to respond to email queries (<6 business hours).

1

Customer Support

1/10

We were disappointed by Zoho's customer support options. A lack of a live chat, and slow response times (>0.5 business day) mean that most support is obtained via the support page on the website. This support page is difficult to navigate and often contains information that does not match to the specific look of the software - we found, for example, that recently posted explanatory YouTube videos did not accurately represent the software.

Integratability
2

Integratability

2/10

Plumm only offers 3 pre-built integrations: Slack, Microsoft Teams and Okta. It doesn't even integrate with Google/ Microsoft Calendar so you can view your team's time-off requests. Disappointingly, it also lacks an API for users to build custom integrations.

5

Integratability

5/10

While Zapier lacks pre-built integrations with some of the most important third party products (such as Slack or Jira), it does provide an open API allowing users to build their own integrations where necessary.

Ease of Migration
5

Ease of Migration

5/10

Users can export most data fields from the platform.

8

Ease of Migration

8/10

Zoho has powerful data export options. In addition to picking from a range of predetermined reports, users can customise data exports to extract the insights that they are looking for.
