Key findings

This review covers only the eSignature functionality within Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Acrobat Sign, which is a standalone solution with far more features. While it’s a convenient add-on for existing Adobe users, it lacks advanced automation, integrations, and workflow tools found in dedicated eSignature platforms. It’s fine for basic signing needs but falls short for businesses requiring a more robust solution.

Feature available

Pros

Exceptional Auto-Field Detection
We found Adobe Acrobat's field detection and placement to be remarkably accurate during testing. The system intelligently positions fields with optimal sizing and spacing, significantly speeding up document preparation for teams handling multiple agreements.
Quick and Simple Setup Process
We were impressed by how quickly users can get started - creating eSignature documents takes just 5-10 minutes. The platform offers straightforward self-serve purchasing and simple configuration of branding and integrations, making it ideal for teams needing rapid deployment.

Cons

Poor Customization Options
During our testing, we found customization to be frustratingly limited. The lack of e-witnessing, in-person signing capabilities, and inability to customize user roles severely restricts signing workflows for businesses requiring more complex processes.
Severely Limited Integration Capabilities
We found Adobe Acrobat's integration capabilities to be woefully inadequate. With only basic Google Drive and Dropbox connections, and no Zapier or API access, it's nearly impossible to create automated workflows or connect with essential business tools like Salesforce or Slack.
Inflexible Signing Order Management
We found the signing order system to be frustratingly rigid. You can't attach private messages to recipients, bulk import contacts is unavailable, and reminder scheduling is limited to preset intervals rather than custom timeframes - major headaches for teams managing multiple signers.
Minimal Export Functionality
We were disappointed by the platform's bare-bones export capabilities. With no downloadable reports and limited to basic PDF exports of documents and audit trails, it's extremely difficult to track and analyze document performance across your organization.
Primitive Reporting Capabilities
The reporting functionality is shockingly basic. During testing, we found only a rudimentary document status page with no dedicated reporting dashboard or key metrics like completion time and user activity - making it impossible to gain meaningful insights into your signing processes.

Adobe Acrobat is best for

  • Businesses with straightforward document signing needs
  • Who need highly accurate automatic field detection and placement
  • And/or who need basic document security with audit trails but not advanced verification

Adobe Acrobat is less good for

  • Businesses with complex document workflows requiring multiple integrations
  • Who need advanced reporting and analytics on document performance
  • And/or who need to edit and reissue documents after sending
