Superior integration capabilities
We tested PostHog's integration ecosystem and found it exceptionally comprehensive, covering data warehouses, CRMs, CDPs, and support tools. Their API enables seamless programmatic interaction, making it perfect for teams with complex tech stacks.

Cons

Complex User Interface
We found the interface can be overwhelming due to its extensive functionality. For non-technical users or those needing quick insights, navigating through PostHog's feature-rich environment can be challenging and time-consuming.
Session replays are underwhelming

It’s handy having session replay built into an all-in-one tool, but the execution isn’t great. Page elements can be slow to load, the UI is complex and hard to navigate, and there’s no session summary – so you’re stuck watching full replays just to figure out if anything useful happened. If you heavily rely on session replay for deep user research or debugging, this could be a real pain.

PostHog is best for

  • Businesses with technical teams seeking a comprehensive open-source analytics platform
  • Who need comprehensive automatic event tracking without manual setup
  • And/or who need advanced visualization tools like heatmaps and session replays in one platform

PostHog is less good for

  • Businesses with non-technical teams who need simple, non-developer focused analytics
  • Who need simplified form analytics and conversion tracking
  • And/or who need a streamlined, simplified interface without technical complexity
