Key findings

Relate, founded in 2019, positions itself as a “modern sales platform for B2B companies.” It’s a well-designed, no-frills platform that covers the basics for early-stage B2B startups. Key features include prospecting tools for SDRs, email sequencing, data enrichment, and seamless contact importing from LinkedIn.

However, Relate isn’t ready for scale—yet. Sequencing is limited to just 50 emails per day, there’s very limited support for automation, and integrations are few and far between. That said, it’s an excellent “day one CRM” for B2B startups looking for something lightweight, intuitive, and focused.

Pros

Powerful and intuitive pipeline automation

We were impressed by Relate's pipeline functionality, particularly how it lets you connect different pipelines to create seamless processes. For example, when a deal moves to 'closed won' in sales, it automatically transitions to your customer onboarding pipeline.

Excellent lead management for B2B sales

We found the dedicated 'Prospect' feature particularly valuable for B2B sales teams. It offers a customizable pipeline specifically designed for SDRs to qualify and manage leads, with automatic handoff to the sales pipeline when leads are qualified.

Exceptional ease of use for B2B startups
We found Relate's interface remarkably intuitive for early-stage B2B startups, with blazingly fast page loads and a clean, modern design that makes daily CRM tasks effortless. The platform aligns naturally with typical B2B startup workflows, enabling quick adoption.
Responsive customer support
We experienced consistently excellent customer support, with the team typically responding within an hour during US business hours via live chat. Their help center stands out for its comprehensive, well-organized documentation.
Efficient contact enrichment and LinkedIn integration
We found Relate's automatic contact enrichment via Clearbit particularly useful, combined with their Chrome extension for adding LinkedIn contacts directly to your CRM. This streamlines the process of building and maintaining your contact database.

Cons

Severely Limited Integration Capabilities
We found Relate's integration capabilities to be woefully inadequate. With only basic connections to Google Calendar, Outlook, and Slack, and no API for custom integrations, teams are forced to rely heavily on Zapier workarounds. This is particularly problematic for growing businesses needing seamless data flow between tools.
Primitive Workflow Automation
We were disappointed by Relate's rudimentary automation capabilities. The platform offers only basic, built-in automations like Slack notifications for closed deals. The lack of a proper workflow automation module severely limits teams' ability to streamline complex processes and scale operations efficiently.
Restrictive Email Sequencing Limits
We found the email sequencing capabilities frustratingly limited, with strict caps of 6 emails per hour and 50 per day. These severe restrictions make the platform unsuitable for teams running high-volume outreach campaigns. The inability to set automated triggers for sequences further hampers its effectiveness.

Relate is best for

  • Businesses with a low volume of customer interactions (10-50 messages/calls per day)
  • Who need an intuitive, well setup B2B sales pipeline with automated data enrichment

Relate is less good for

  • Businesses with a high volume of customer interactions (>50 messages/calls per day)
  • Who need advanced workflow automation and custom API integrations
  • And/or who need a CRM with marketing functionalities
