Key findings

ShareFile is a bare-bones eSignature tool that lacks distinction. It might work for accounting firms thanks to its pre-configured workflows, but beyond that, it’s underwhelming. While it works for basic document signing, most businesses will find better, more feature-rich options elsewhere.

Feature available

Pros

Strong Role-Based Access Controls
We found ShareFile excels at team management with granular permission controls. Teams can define custom permission profiles and set specific privileges for different users, which is particularly valuable for organizations with complex hierarchies.
Comprehensive Integration Capabilities
We tested ShareFile's integration capabilities and found it connects seamlessly with major platforms like Salesforce, Pipedrive, and Google Drive. The availability of API access and Zapier integration enables extensive connectivity options for businesses requiring custom workflows.

Cons

Poor Functionality and Limited Features
We found ShareFile's core functionality to be severely lacking. During testing, we encountered a bare-bones eSignature solution missing critical features like web forms, formula fields, and conditional objects that businesses need for complex document workflows.
Confusing and Unpolished Interface
The interface is frustratingly basic and disorganized. We encountered slow page loads, UI bugs, and a confusing navigation structure. The lack of a dedicated global reports page forces users to hunt through folders, severely hampering productivity.
Inadequate Access Controls
We found the sharing and access controls to be poorly implemented. The platform lacks essential features like signer delegation and e-witnessing, making it unsuitable for organizations requiring robust verification workflows.
Limited Analytics and Reporting
The reporting capabilities are shockingly basic. During our testing, we found the dashboard only shows rudimentary metrics like document views and active users, lacking crucial insights into completion rates and signer engagement.
Basic Document Preparation Tools
The drag-and-drop builder is frustratingly limited. We found no support for custom fields or conditional logic, and the absence of auto-field placement makes document preparation needlessly time-consuming for busy teams.

ShareFile is best for

  • Businesses with straightforward document signing requirements and strong team management needs
  • Who need granular control over user permissions and document access
  • And/or who need native integration with accounting and enterprise platforms like Salesforce

ShareFile is less good for

  • Businesses with complex document workflows requiring conditional logic and formula calculations
  • Who need detailed analytics and reporting capabilities
  • And/or who need advanced ID verification methods beyond basic authentication
